Now that Gen 8 is out would you still buy new release Gen 7 games

    Well,

now that the PS4, XB1 and WiiU are here to stay will you be ditching buying for your existing PS3/360/Wii or have they already gone?

Me I'm keeping my PS3 as its probably getting more time than my PS4 at the minute that plus Persona 5 is out next year so...

    Any thoughts?

Currently only adopted a PS4 and I think the Wii U is next on my list. I can see myself selling my Wii and Xbox at some point but I'll be hanging onto the PS3. Not only is there a great catalogue and good ones yet to come but I don't see myself ever selling it. I think I'd hold onto the Xbox much longer too, got a few in my back catalogue and I wanna keep it for the dance central games for my nieces.

Got a WiiU, one game tempting me on the PS4, none on the XBO; will continue to play on PS3 and X360 as long as there are interesting games coming out on those systems, though I guess that Bullet Soul Infinite Burst could very well be the last X360 I buy.

Not buying any more games for PS3, Wii nor XB360. Only next gen I have is the Wii U. Games like Trials I would have snapped up normally on 360 but have gone PC route.

I must admit, I have overlooked most new PS3 games since getting a PS4. Most notably South Park: The Stick of Truth and 2014 Fifa World Cup. I would be tempted to buy these if they were on the PS4, but I have overlooked the PS3 versions despite owning a PS3. I don't think there's really a rational reason for this, other than feeling like I have moved on. Still, games are games eh?

Having said that, there are exceptions. I'll be all over Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMix when it is released, and Persona 5 is tempting. I'd prefer a PS4 release of both, however.

Haven't next genned yet, so I'll buy PS3 games and possibly 360 games I fancy once they drop in price.

I said I was going to quit buying PS3 games cold turkey once I had my PS4 but I've picked up one or two.

It's more a case of cheapies I may have missed (like Puppeteer) than big releases.

I still want the last R&C for example.

Nothing to buy on PS4, so....WiiU it is right now. I'd buy PS3 games at the right price of course.

I'm still buying the occasional PSP game even though I have a Vita. For instance just bought a copy of Fat Princess, new for a fiver.

No problem with hoovering up the odd Wii title if it's bargainous enough. Only have a Wii U from this gen and don't see that changing until the first or second big PS4 price drop. Until then I have oodles of last gen to play.

After caving an rebuying a PS3 I'll still get stuff for it but I tend to get the next gen versions of stuff if available. The PS3 is more for PSN+ stuff, sales items and the odd still exclusive title like the upcoming Borderlands game, possible AC etc. It's media functions also nudged it back into the home. If E3 is a bust the WiiU might be going but mostly PS4 and XBO rule the roost now.

WiiU for me and hoovering up PS3 games that I've missed- some are super cheap now too.

I would still buy xbox/ps3 games as there nothing good on ps4 to warrant spending ?50 a pop yet, this is the first system I've brought where I have only owned one retail game for first 5/6 months its been out(padded out with "free" shovelware indie games), that's how shockingly bad the start of gen8 as been, though if was xbone owner I'd probably would have Titanfall, KI and Forza to go along with BF4.

I have to admit, I look my my pile of a good 8 or so PS4 games that I've bought since getting the console in February and struggle to relate when people say there's nothing to play. I already have a backlog.

When I finally tire of EDF 2025, finish my backlog stack, digital downloads, PS+ list, pick up all the games I've been meaning to play and work my way through them all, I'll be ready for the next next gen!

I guess for people with a backlog of some of last gens best games there is little to tempt you to play what will be the weakest of the new gen.
