          My god...

The internet, discussion forums, it's all over everyone. We can go home now.

Seriously though, I applaud your candour.

Hmmm this seems to have derailed significantly since last time I viewed.

I'm definitely looking for a Nintendo console, sorry but I've no intention getting a PS4 anytime soon, I don't see the point. Love my Xbone, my boys get to play FIFA, plants vs zombies and Rayman, plus I can join in with those, I get Dead Rising 3 and more adult oriented third party stuff, the missus gets Netflix, 4OD etc. it's perfect for the main TV in the living room. My eyes can't tell the difference between 900p and 1080p, so a PS4 is no use to me until the major exclusives start to show up.

The name might not have the same weight as it used to, but personally I think there's still some magic in the games Nintendo develops, the problem is not getting distracted while you're waiting for the next one to come along. When I started the thread I was hoping someone was going to jump in with a... " you need to get a 3DS/Wii U, xxx is out this year". It seems like it's going to come down to whether I would prefer to play smash bros on a small or large screen. Do I want a new Mario Kart and Bayonetta (I really do), or do I go with Mario Golf and Tomodachi Life (I wouldn't say no to either)? Of course that's a decision only I can make.

I couldn't laugh about it last week, I was far to worried about whether my boys would be having nightmares and not sleeping with worry about someone sneaking into our home at night, especially my wee man. However after a wonderful act of kindness thanks to two members of this forum, he's too busy with his ultimate team to think about it. The guy?guys? Who broke in must have been the worst thieves ever, took my 3DS and all my games (they were all in the same case), 3 xbox one games, the second controller, a ps move but not the camera and my wallet with a grand total of a ?1 coin in it, but not the brand new phone that was under it. WTF?

Edit: just got an email from Nintendo, they might be able to transfer my purchases to a new 3DS. Or they can but they want all the police details, then they make a decision on if they will. Hmmm, we'll see.

My first though was also to go with a Wii U basic model, but I can't find a cheap one anywhere. GAME currently have the limited edition 32GB Zelda console for ?220, on amazon, eBay, and zavvi a basic will set me back around the same price.
Aww horrible. Reading that was a nightmare. For this simple reason Nintendo need to re think the way they do things. Attaching games to the console is lunacy, bonkers and stupid all at the same time. Example as unfortunately for you it's stolen or dropped or breaks etc. Really is piss poor design from Nintendo especially as everyone has Nintendo network now also.

Just a thought too can you not claim the 3DS in home insurance? Some peoples covers stolen items I believe.

Wii U would be nice especially if you have an XBone already it's a good alternative. The Mario Kart 8 bundle looked good or if you can find a good deal for one seems to have some good games. Plus all the brilliant Virtual Console games you could get. Seems like you really like Nintendo. I feel it's good to have Nintendo machines too, as they offer alternative experiences to PS4 and XBone.

And about what Nintendo do in the future they need to first work out how the Internet works and online structure end of. They should release a handheld/home console cross combining both I think.

Damn big Greg, **** news about the 3DS. Any luck with getting digital content transferred to another machine?

Anyway, I would go for a WiiU over the 3DS in all honesty. Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Wind Waker HD and Mario Kart 8 should keep you and the lads busy for ages. Of course The Wonderful 101 is pretty decent - just ask dataDave!

Fingers crossed that e3 brings news of some other big games to look forward to. Zelda is the obvious one but I'm interested to see if new/unused franchises are shown.

Monster Punter. It's like an MMO (with an actual 'end') concentrated into 800 to 1,000hrs worth of pure greatness.

                  It's worth owning a WiiU AND a 3DS for.

No Circle Pad Pro XL means that I just can't get into the 3DS version of MH3U however much I try or would like to.

I think that I would actually prefer the Wii U version of MH3U, but the MH3U Wii U bundle is somehow still selling at full RRP (?330)!

Second hand systems are popping up in the sales forum here for around ?130 now though, and the game can be snagged for ?32 in CeX

Never gotten into Monster Hunter. My time sink of choice is Pok?mon (researching, acquiring and breeding monsters), but I don't think I'll get 800 hours out of it. Which is probably for the best.

Buy a basic set from ebay for about ?130? That's just over the price of three games at retail.

I found the game for the twenty-five quid equivalent in the most expensive city on Earth. I reckon you could be all set for ?150.

True about the 3DS version though, lack of proper control over the viewpoint must stink something balls. I don't have it for my 3DS because of region mis-match.

Having played most of the 3DS's great games over the years I'm unsure whether I should get another or splash out on a shiny new Wii U. I can't afford both, just getting one would normally be a bit of a stretch, but I've done loads of overtime at work this month, which should hopefully result in a decent bit of spends when the wage comes in.

I had loads of stuff on my 3DS from the eshop, digital versions of Mario 3D land, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion 2, plus virtual console stuff etc. I've emailed nintendo about whether they would be able to transfer those purchases to another system, but given what I've read online I'm not expecting good news.

Regarding the Wii U, I had a system at launch, but I had to sell it last year as my stupid car, needed stupid amounts of work doing on it to be road worthy. So I've had everything up until Pikmin 3 at some point.

So my question to you, well informed ladies and gents is, would you go for another 3DS or is 2014 the year of the Wii U for Ninty?
I'd go with another 3DS, but that's because most of my gaming is done on handhelds.

I hope they let your transfer your digital purchases. If they don't, I'd rebuy what I wanted second-hand, as I wouldn't want to give Nintendo the money again.

No luck on transferring the purchases to a new system. Nintendo treat you like the criminal when you get in touch, won't do a thing without proof of purchase aka the original receipt (bought on release, be damned if I can find it) and the full police report, then they have their own "investigation" to do before they decide if you can have the games you've paid for. My mum bought me an early birthday present just yesterday, a brand new 3DS, wish I hadn't opened it now. Needless to say if I pick up the games I already had they'll be bought second hand. I've asked them to permanently delete my NNID so the thieves can't use my details, and hopefully my games, let's see what hoops they'll need me to jump through for that to happen. Serves me right for supporting Nintendo Europe I suppose.

At the end of the day, I can understand. I don't expect microsoft to replace my stolen joypad and copies of Rayman and Plants vs Zombies GW. It's just that on any other system, I could redownload my digital purchases, it just shows how behind on some things nintendo are.

Before mum got me the 3DS, I was pretty much set on a Wii U. Think I'll save up a little more and pick up the Mario Kart bundle and Zelda at the end of May.

No offence, but that is hardly Nintendo's fault if you lost the receipt.
