Far Cry 4 officially announced - Cross and Nxt Gen.

    Taken from ign.com:

Ubisoft has announced Far Cry 4, which will release on November 18 in North America and November 20 in Europe for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Far Cry 4 is set in the Kyrat, a fictional Himalayan region ruled by ?a despotic self-appointed king,? confirming an earlier rumor. Whether or not Drive composer Cliff Martinez is involved remains to be seen.

Executive producer Dan Hay said Ubisoft Montreal, who is leading development on Far Cry 4, ?wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise and exceed fan expectations.? Ubisoft likely won?t say much until E3 in June, but as usual, Far Cry 4 revolves around weapons, animals, vehicles to allow players to create and tell emergent stories. The Montreal studio is collaborating with Ubisofts Toronto, Kiev, and Shanghai studios, as well as Ghost Recon: Future Soldier developer Red Storm on Far Cry 4.

If you pre-order Far Cry 4, you?ll receive a ?free upgrade to the Limited Edition which includes Hurk?s Redemption, a series of three action-packed single-player missions featuring the popular character Hurk from Far Cry 3?s DLC. The Limited Edition also includes Hurk?s signature harpoon gun called ?The Impaler?.?
I'm personally really excited about this, loved Far Cry 3.

If it's anything like 3 we may have a potential goty contender right here. As much as I enjoyed 3 as well, current gen versions aren't even a consideration, the last game strained at times under the tech. Next gen all the way.

I really wish they had been bold like Rocksteady and made it for next gen only. I hope making it a cross gen title does not hold it back, as much as i understand the business reasons for releasing for previous consoles i really do wish developers would stop cross porting titles and just plough all resources into new consoles.

I reckon it's just gonna be Farcry 3 with a new map, with the same checklist of things to do. Just saying.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Personally I'd be happy with more of the same. As long as they don't dumb down the game play for the masses with this one. It was a bloody tough fps at times. But my one request would be to please get rid of those cheap stealth sections. Completely jarred with everything else imo.

Probably pretty much the case, no reason to expect anything groundbreaking, especially as it's held back by old gen.

That said, I actually enjoyed FC3 even though it wasn't really anything special. Even did all the radio towers and enemy bases, usually I don't bother with completing side activities like that, but I quite enjoyed them in FC3.

Missed opportunity this. Doesn't look out of place as an April Fool's.

Both that shot and the fact that it's a cross gen title would suggest so.

Rumour is that you can ride elephants. Sounds alright.

I always get confused between Far Cry and Just Cause.

It doesn't help that I have both games but have yet to play either...

FC3 and FC: Blood Dragon are my top favourite open world shooters, so i hope they don't screw this one up with too much nonsensical story and unnecessary distractions! no elephants with headmounted bazookas please!

also i hope they will manage to make the island a bit more interesting to explore this time. more underground caves and better loot like secret weapons would be great.

It takes place in the Himalayas so I doubt there'll be any islands this time. More interesting areas would be welcome although I don't want too much loot like in Borderlands or anything like that. The weapon selection was nicely balanced in 3.
