Which type of zombies do you prefer to shoot?

Been watching World War Z again and I've got to admit these are the best zombies I've ever seen. They literally faceplant off buildings try to bite someone - it's a cool concept.

This all got me thinking the obvious which is what are the most popular zombies?

I think the walking dead ones are more realistic. You die, you come back, you slow down gradually and rot.
The ones in dayz are rabid lunatics. I guess their zombie life span would be very short. What with the amount of energy they are using. I don't see any of them stopping for an energy bar. Lol

The most annoying thing is their bizarre process of decomposure. In Walking Dead they should be all but extinct already yet magically continue to wander in great numbers, less dramatic of course but its how often the biology is completely side stepped. I think I prefer traditional rigid zombies but in enough numbers to be a threat, running ones are just ugly cannibals really. Though WWZ's mass outbreak scenes were awesome

The ones in Nightmare Creatures. If you cut them perfectly in half they begin crawling at you.

Shufflebies are the best. Their slowness makes peeps complacent ... cocky even. Over confident. Then BOOM, you're overwhelmed by their sheer number ... and getting your guts grappled in the process.

No, because they don't all become zombies at the start of the outbreak. Some are new zombies! They handle it pretty well, like tree zombie.

But given the numbers that would suggest a very sizeable population of uninfected still exists which Rick and co keep not finding. I can believe that though as the intelligence in the group generally is very low I'll give them credit however, if you blindfolded any member from child to granny, cut off their arms and span them around till dizzy they'd still be able to pull off flawless running headshots with 100% accuracy

I'll add a vote in for animal zombies. They've been done sure, but so many zombie themed films and games etc wuss out of their inclusion.

I'm still a firm believer in the Geroge Romero shufflers.

I've grown up watching those & to me they are the only real brand of Zombie I entertain, runners etc just don't do it for me, they worked ok in the Dawn Remake but I've never been a fan of them really

I have however started reading Garth Ennis The Crossed comics & I have no idea if the Crossed are zombies or what exactly but by christ they are sadistic SoB's & the comic is just nasty.
I've heard rumblings of a movie coming & I can't see how personally based on the comic but whatever they do these are the nastiest things you'll ever meet.

I'd forgotten about Nightmare Creatures. I used to play the demo on PS1, but the whispering voices on the soundtrack freaked me out! There's a series crying out for a reboot, except da kidz would say "it's rippin' off Da Order: 1664, innit?"

Maybe this thread would be the place to leave this trailer for Megashark Vs. Mechashark?

Eurgh, Crossed is a thoroughly vile and depraved comic. I read the whole thing!
Man, the bit where the survivors are watching some Crossed (infected) through some binoculars and it looks like they're stood around in a circle playing

"Soggy Biscuits" where the contestants race to ejaculate onto a biscuit and the last one has to eat the biscuit. In reality, they're jizzin' into a bowl of bullets so that even if the shots aren't fatal, the gunshot victim will eventually turn into the infected.

                      Grim.

Blackgas, by Warren Ellis, is another one worth reading, Soundwave.

Back on topic, I like shufflers because they're beatable. Plan properly and you can get around 'em. Once you get swarmed, you're in serious trouble. Shufflers manage to be both hilarious (original Dawn, Shaun etc) and terrifying.

Runners are fine and possibly work better in videogames (Left 4 Dead, primarily) than shufflers. Would Resident Evil be as tense if you could move your character like Bayonetta? Is there a game like that? What was that cheerleader one (Romero High) and that Bikini one? Is that what they play like?

I'm fine with runners and shufflers in either games or films. but they definitely alter the tension of the films. World War Z and the Dawn remake did runners brilliantly, I thought.

Remember, "don't use the "Z" word" for 28 Days Later - they're infected with a rage virus!

                        Lol yeah that was nasty.
The bit that haunts me most about the first volume of crossed is

that bit where the family (Husband/Wife/Daughter) try to survive an infected attack by using the circle of salt for it obviously not to work & then the 2 page splash of the eventual outcome has stayed with me ever since

I have volume 2 on it's way & I've started reading the free web one "Wish you were here"
It's really nasty but volume 1 had me hooked & I read it in a day.

Thanks for the recommendation I'll look that up, got Stitched on my to get list as well

Lollipop chainsaw use runners IIRC for their Zombies
But yeah they work ok in games but less in Movies IMO

Crossed is just plain nasty torture porn crap, wouldn't mind if the plot was any good but its just drivel.

Yeah I admit it's not nice & wouldn't be for everyone...I wasn't even sure but I thought I'd give it a blast & I actually really got into the characters.

I really felt for them & wanted them to escape.
I actually surprised myself by how much I enjoyed it.
Yes it is hugely OTT & in some spots I still wonder how they were allowed to print it but I genuinely enjoyed it in a pretty sick way...it's like Walking Dead to me now.

I've got an idea for a new type... A Forum running Fez topped Zombie that delivers competition results via video. Make it happen ZomCharles!
