Honestly, who cares? It's not like the announcement was, MS has officially bought every Sony in house studio, along with Nintendo. It's tomb raider, and a timed exclusive, big deal.

I just don't get the outrage or bid deal . SONY done plenty of timed or lock out deals , so has Nintendo and MS over the years

We currently have a generation where the sun shines out of Sony's bum no matter what they do and MS are the pantomime villain. Apparently we have to stick to this rhetoric no matter what happens.

If I only owned a PS4 I'd be more worried that they've sold 10 million consoles and nine months down the line still can't be bothered to add simple needed functionality like pausing and re-ordering downloads.

Yeah - fewer, deadlier enemies would be great. The reboot was fun but 18 year old Lara spending her gap year laying waste to hundreds of mercenaries with explosive shotgun rounds just didn't gel for me. I would much rather be exploring deserted tombs with the occasional tiger scaring the **** out of you.

I echo those who say 'what's the big deal?' too. I've seen so many comments on Eurogamer to the effect that 'MS have pissed off the entire gaming community'. They haven't pissed me off. If you were really that desperate to play the game, you could just buy an Xbox. I'll probably pick up a PS4 rather than a Bone (when I eventually upgrade) but I'll happily play the GOTY version in 2016. No biggie. As others have said this stuff has been going on forever, I'm amazed that people are so angered by a game becoming exclusive. And it's only temporary for chrissakes!

Yep that pretty much sums up the last 12 months or so ...

Sony need to get their butt into gear, because with the exception of one game (Last of Us, a PS3 game no less) I fail to see any reason to buy a PS4 currently. And that doesn't look like changing anytime soon either.

Yet again Sony sells a crap load of hardware, and yet again they forget the simple things ..like supplying games for it. But here comes the 'Evil' Microsoft (cue Imperial March music) to take all those games away ... its pathetic ... If the situation were reversed it would be all 'Well Done Sony' and 'Sony have just won this generation!!' .. etc..

The gaming community is currently the no more than a bunch of pathetic, self entitled bunch of arse heads ... Or SonyGaf as they are better known ...

If the situation were reversed. But it isn't reversed so we don't know what the fallout would be had Sony grabbed TR as an exclusive. You're just speculating. There's a reason for the current general feelings toward Microsoft and they're not really doing much to swing that around. This latest stunt hasn't helped. Nothing on PS4 for you, nothing on Xbox for me. That's why we chose our respective platforms I guess! Disappointed I'll have to wait for Tomb Raider but there's no shortage of games out there to choose from.

If they'd had said it was a timed exclusive instead of being intentionally dishonest and claiming it was platform exclusive this wouldn't have blown up out of proportion. Microsoft created a problem for themselves they could easily have avoided.

this isn't the topic for it but you and Kron have not just got a chip on the shoulder you have a family sized bag of Mc'cains oven chips on there. Yeah sony's systems selling better yeah microsoft got it all wrong and have had to u-turn on pretty much everything from E3. but I think a lot of people are coming round because the games are there and are coming this year, Microsoft has the Exclusives and the price point you never know they could have a bumper Christmas thanks to this, gamers forgive and forget look at sonys ps3 cock up last gen it pretty much caught up to the xbox 360 by the end of the gen despite it's poor start and silly price.

So come on kron and badboy, we all know the situation and we don't need the XDL (Xbox Defence league) jumping out every time someone dares to say anything slightly negative about Microsoft's decisions its getting old.

Again that happens , even when we all knew that RE 4 was coming to the PS2 , Nintendo was making out that RE 4 would only be on the GameCube, the same sort of thing happened with Street Fighter II on the Snes, or the likes of Ninja Gaiden 2 and Lost Panet 1 and II on the 360 .

So why now the big outcry ?

People were shouting about all of those cases as well. This isn't the first time people have got upset about this sort of thing and it won't be the last.

The Next Tomb Raider is Xbox One Exclusive

In principle, I dislike it because it's pretty shady business. In any other industry, these kinds of exclusivity deals would invite accusations of anti-competitive business practices as competition is being subverted by certain products being artificially restricted to specific formats. It highlights the fact that the gaming industry has not quite reached that level of business maturity where such questions might be asked.

But in the current context, they all do it and they're all as bad as each other. I would simply suggest that such business practices should not be acceptable. I said the same thing in 1997 when Sony paid for the Tomb Raider 2 exclusivity.

Don't seem to have seen such levels of outcry with Bay II being Wii U only , same for Fatal Frame. Can't really remember a major outcry that LP II was a timed exclusive or that the likes of Deep Down or From Software new games are exclusive to the PS4.

It happened in films and TV mate . Sports exclusive to some corps and not others, some Film corps refused to support formats like HD DVD . It

There was a f*** ton of bitching about Bayonetta going Wii U at the time. But Bayonetta or Fatal Frame aren't as big of deal for the majority as Tomb Raider either.

Thing is, there would not be a Bayonetta 2 without Nintendo putting the money behind it, so it's not really the same case as this.
