When will the big 360/PS3 releases dry up?

When do people expect major games to stop being released on to the 360 and PS3?
Talking the big retail releases over Indie/obscure stuff.

Know nobody knows for sure and just wanted to see people's thoughts what with both next-generation machines having been out for almost nine months now and guess developers not keen to make the massive step to the One & PS4 just yet.

If I had to pick a date would say around May 2015, which would be 18 months after the new consoles launch, anyone have any idea is that's the sort of timeframe we've had in the past? I suspect longer, and probably by a while.

Assassins Creed Rogue seems to be the last real big currebt gen exclusive lined up and to be honest I think it'll be the last one. It's already clear that spending on current gen development is being cut with most stuff milking existing engines etc. For PS3 and 360 you'll get niche releases for a good while yet but for all intent purposes I'd consider this Xmas their grand finale

That's still due yup, I was just thinking of current gen only. I imagine most will want the next gen versions of cross gen stuff as we get into next year

I have so many games to play it's ridiculous!

I genuinely think I'll be playing PS3 and 360 games until the PS5 and XBox Two come out!

Good question. With more and more of the big next-gen-only games being kicked into the long grass I decided to defer my purchase of PS4 (Barbarella retro-chic Destiny White PS4 cancelled) and sit it out. I'll be content enough with lower-res but functional versions of Destiny, Evil Within, Far Cry 4, etc. for a while. I wouldn't be surprised now if I upgrade only when PS4 slim comes out.

I'm in the same boat mate. A ton of games left to play on the shelf, plus a load downloaded when they were on sale.

I have no interest in the PS4 or Xone right now or anytime soon tbh. There's nowt out there to get me excited.

I hope they don't drop the online side for last gen consoles for at least 5 yrs. There's plenty out there to play & i can see ppl playing older online games for yrs to come, same as with pc games

You'll still get FIFA for a few years. EA only stopped the PS2 version recently!

Then you'd better dust it off soon..

                    Sunset Overdrive - Oct 31st

I guess by 'big' you guys mean mainly Western developed cookie-cutter multiplats?

I can think Persona 5, but I don't think that's a "big" title. I would think plenty of games will be released in Japan for years to come, like with the PSP but maybe 2015 for the 'big' ones, with an odd sports title being released in 2016?

I was thinking this got years left before the last Fifa hits a PS3/360 & that will be when I finally decide to upgrade

Fifa is finished on ps360. It may get some vague gameplay updates this year but the focus is all current gen. They will just be roster updates like PS2.

FIFA and football games in general are huge in developing markets. FIFA 14 was released on PS2 for this reason. I wouldn't be surprised to see FIFA games continue to be released on the previous gen for a few years yet.

So you getting a PS4 now then??

I expect just roster updates will be enough for me for the foreseeable future as long as they don't price it at PS4 levels
