    1080 Avalanche - a worthy alternative to SSX3 and Amped 2?

So is anyone currently playing 1080 Avalanche (GCN)?

Reviews so far have been pretty critical, usually comparing the game to SSX3 and Amped 2 and then declaring lack of replay value.

But I refuse to give up hope. Im probably one of the few gamers who doesnt actually find SSX3 much of a thrill at all. I prefer the original Amped (havent played No. 2 as of yet) cause at least you feel there's an element of danger.

Own 1080 Avalanche already? Please give your opinion.

There is a thread *here* with all kinds of things in it (inc. willy waving ) that you may find interesting (although, a general discussion thread is probably advised now... ).

Bottom line is, 1080 is different to the others. Amped is all technical and stuff, a bit of a stiff's game (Brats ) while SSX3 is all trickery and stuff. 1080 is the racer of the bunch and, imho, the one to get if you're after a proper snowboarding racer...

...although, personally, I prefer 1080 as, to me, it has an understandable and accessible purpose... if that makes sense

It features some amazing graphics (screenshots are very misleading - check it out moving if you can; lots of bumps, minor details and stuff and it has the best snow storm I've seen in 3D game), some decent music (subject to personal taste! It's quite "happy" overall) and good, dip in playability... with time trails and such for hardcore players.

Highly recommended by myself, and, I would assume, that Oh! My Car! fella... got his head screwed on he has

edit: Just a thought - the US version is gonna hit it off with several forum people so probably best to wait and check their impressions too!

        Oh! My Car! recommends 1080:Avalanche.

back in the NES days nintendo QC'd every released game to show that it worked properly and was possible to finish. (ie no bugs/massive deliberate impossible difficulty).

useless now, maybe, but originally, great

Back in the day yes but now with games like "Mickey Mouse Disney ****e" stamped with the ninty approval it just makes a mockery of the whole thing.
