    Yakuza Zero

While we westerners wait for Sega to release crime action game Yakuza 5 on these shores, the company has gone and annou…

Sega has announced the next Yakuza game which will be coming to PS4 and PS3. It's set in the late 80'e and covers how the events of Yakuza 1 came about. Expect no western release

A prequel? And it even has Zero in the title? And they say originality is dead.

I hope this fails so hard that Sega will never make another one again. It's better than the disappointment of Sega not releasing any of the games in the west.

Hahaha lucky you're not bitter Guts.

Set in the 80s? Yakuza: Rice City?

Is that racist? I hope not.

          I'm very bitter.

Infact, I'll go even further and say, that Sega could just die and I wouldn't care at all, since the only good games they make these days are the Yakuza series and they might as well not exist because of the language-barrier.

I nominate wakka for the 'ban bucket challenge' for using humour in racist slur... Oh and Gutz for being overly bitter!

I like this idea of a Yakuza set in the 80s, If I am not mistaken, wasn't the 80s a time when the Yakuza were hit financially by the economic downturn, forcing them to go under ground? Probably wrong... Not that the series follow the real life counter parts much any ways.

I didn't think there was any noticeable financial downturn until 1990, so I expect this game to have signs of the incredible wasting money that apparently went on in the 80s in Japan. Like I do on retro games.

GamesRadar+ takes you closer to the games, movies and TV you love.

First screens are out! Looks like Yakuza! Snazzy shorter hair though

Want this. I'll play through it with an Internet walkthrough if I have to but I'm hoping SEGA actually realise that this will sell over here.

Hell, even digital only would do.

Looks the same but even more gorgeous. Why have SEGA given up on the west with this? Is it because of people not buying that awful bandwagon zombie version? If so, we're sorry SEGA. I've been hanging out for a new Yakuza since 5 didn't get released! I even sold Yakuza 4 in the certainty that 5 would get released in the west, as all previous versions were. Gutted.

Interesting entry of the franchise doing a prequel that leads into the first title (although not too surprising given the frequency of prequels in other popular franchises).

Hope this one turns out well as the late 80s Japan setting should make for some interesting experiences.

Maybe SEGA will release some of the more recent entries in the West again in the future. At least you can import some of the later entries if you really want to play them. Understanding the content doesn't take away from the joy the gameplay brings, especially with being able to play as different characters in the 4th game (enjoy Tanimura's ability to put opponents in holds and break limbs. Quite a fun Aikido-like style of play).
