Issue 1 of Retro was one of the best magazines produced in years, may be worth hunting this one down...

what was issue 2 then or was this the collection of retro reviews and making ofs? is this a collection of there old reto console features or something fresh like the original retro issue.

Issue #1 - stuff about collecting etc all new
Issue #2 - "Making Of" articles already from Edge, with some new ones in there
Issue #3 - Machine focus articles already from Edge, don't know if anything is new in it

#3 isn't as comprhensive as #1 its more like an update on some stuff from #1.

They're not comparable. Issue 1 was excellent, a good look at retrogaming and issues around it.

"Issues" 2 and 3 are merely articles reprinted from Edge, with a couple of extra bits thrown in. If you've got the copies of Edge already, it's not worth ?5 for a couple of extra bits and pieces.

I would love them to do a "proper" issue 2 of Retro, since the first one was great.

Yeah it is just rehashes of the console specific articles that have already been printed but with 2 new ones added which includes the Famicom (thats what I have been told anyway). I think they have also altered the pricing for the games etc to reflect current prices.

I couldn't stop my beating heart when the people at Future managed to still find a copy of Retro - The making of... Special (I think Retro #2) and I was able to order it thru their backissue service a couple of weeks ago. Not owning the Edge issues which originally contained the articles, I'm glad I got this compendium. It's a tremendous read.
