Made by fans as an unofficial continuation of the Nintendo rpg series, if Nintendo doesn't roadblock it, comes a new entry in the franchise for PC, Linux and Mac. The game is aimed for release before the end of year and will be a stand alone title rather than requiring an emulator to be run.

The use of the ip title seems to be the biggest issue they'll face in the do wake the beast

They should have just made their own game with a different name, inspired by Mother/Earthbound.

I don't like the idea of taking other people's artistic creations and just using them without permission. Maybe if Shigesato Itoi has given them his personal blessing, but otherwise just "no", not even if they're not trying to make money with it.

Certainly looks great though.

The correct way to go about this kind of stuff is to not mention a word of it till it's finished & then release it on the net. Announcing it to all of the world before it's done is just begging Nintendo to come down hard on it.

Same thing happened with the 2D OOT remake, people never seem to learn.

Why is this news? This has been in the works for a long time now.

Edit: Also, I recall Shigesato Itoi actually said in an interview that the fans should be the ones to make Mother 4. Knowing Nintendo, this wouldn't make the slightest difference in a decision to send a cease and desist, and knowing people, it probably wouldn't even stop Itoi himself from doing the same.

Because they just published a trailer and release date (if they are allowed).

Oh, I thought this was the old trailer. Anyway, I lost interest in this when I realised it's not a GBA game.
