PS Vita TV - Japanese Machines Now Work IN EU and USA

I have UK Vita and Japanese Vita TV, so to date, the UK Vita games were pretty much incompatible, but no more!

When the Vita TV (as I call it) goes live the in UK you can use it with your UK account. I have re-set mine already and it works great. There are some games still not working, but the updates for Tearaway etc will come as they are out in USA now. I will try my USA account later.

This is good news (for me anyway) as the Japanese machine can now be used for the UK Vita Games I have, which is a lot due to PS +.

I am playing Dragons Crown right full screen that I got for free, result!!

Will post any other updates as I can but am away until Tuesday from tonight.

    News about it here: http://community.eu.playstation.com/.../td-p/22435093

So you're still logging in with your UK account though, not playing UK PS+ games via a Japanese PSN account on the Vita TV.

Logging in UK account now , playing all compatible UK games and UK store (when Live) works as well. No need to buy a new machine. Before the update, nowt worked and you could not access USA and UK stores. I could only access Japanese store and play the odd game that worked on Japanese machine. So this is WAY better.

I have tried logging into my USA account, it works but have to deactivate the machine. Not bothered about USA stuff as all my Vita games are PAL.

So far the following work (without the PS4 pad update, except Killzone, it is there now that comes when UK goes live)

      Spelunky
      Dragons Crown
      TxK
      Velocity 2
      Blaze Blue
      Persona 4 Golden
Killzone Mercenary (you can download the update from the game now it is 243mb)
      Limbo
      Rayman Origins
      Lone Survivor
      Stealth Inc
      The Swapper
      Futurioum
      Gunslugs
      Fez
      Metal Slug XX
      Crash Bandicoot

I thought it was generally understood that you wouldn't need a new machine?

Maybe I was spoilt by Jeff Gerstmann talking about it tons on the Bombcast though.

Neat stuff I guess, not what I'm really into though.

It was region locked until the new firmware update this week, so well done Sony for that at least. Just waiting for UK one to come out and then will update a few non working games and will be able to use the store to get more freebies from plus.

As i work away a lot this is good me, sometimes I will have portable PS4 and sometimes this as luggage can be an issue sometimes. Really chuffed!

Oh, and one other thing, the Japanese machine is White, which looks much better than the black ones coming out!

The whole situation with the Vita is such a shame, especially when you factor in the Vita TV.

The technology behind the Vita, Vita TV and the PS4 connectivity is amazing. I want to live in a world where that, and the big screen/twin stick controls etc. see it become a very popular machine, more than the 3DS (which I think succeeds in spite of its hardware, not because of it).

Instead, we have the iPad and tablets doing really well, which is fine, but the Vita is getting towards everything I thought video games might be, when I was a kid - portable experiences that were playable at home, with transferable games, savedata, online features... And the "next" Vita (which probably won't ever exist now) would have 4G connectivity and allow you to play live multiplayer games anywhere, which would be the ultimate evolution of that idea.

Instead, we have Hay Day, which I wouldn't have played on the Amiga.

Weird, I figured Dragon's Crown would be on the incompatibility list due to the touch screen stuff.

Touch screen was optional. The right stick does the job fine.

What do I need to hook one of these up to a UK plug socket? Do I just need a plug adaptor or do I need a step down?

This is tempting as I work away from home.

How good is the picture quality for vita games through tv.

Stepdown, the power brick is not universal (at least it wasn't when the Vita TV was Japan only).

Very good. It does look a bit more pixellated than on a Vita screen, but that's understandeable. The whole picture might also look a bit less vibrant, depending on your TV's calibration and which version of the portable Vita you've got.
