Ubisoft lineup pulled from Steam

I thought that it was just in the UK that some Ubisoft games weren't listed on Steam but were listed in other major regions. It sounded like this was due to exclusive partnerships rather than choosing not to sell on Steam.
I think its just the fragmented nature of PC digital storefronts. Loads of content that's not on Steam; EA, Blizzard, ArenaNET and others. I completely understand the logic in trying to tie your games to your own storefront particularly if you have big IP like AC and FC.
Also in some ways I think Valve are lazy with Steam. I am not sure that duplicate clients like UPlay shouldn't be allowed on Steam anyway.

I've used Origin and UPlay for Titanfall and FC3 respectively. Had no problems with either although obviously much prefer Steam and use the features on that. Origin has certainly improved since it first came out. Where as UPlay just feels unnecessary, particularly being insisted upon on top of Steam.
One thing Origin does better than Steam though is their refund policy and offering the ability for a full refund in a certain time frame.
