If you wanted instant payment, then there is an option for this. In my experience, i try and get the payment within 3 days; in most cases all it takes a courteous reminder to the buyer, either in the form of a quick contact, or sending the invoice. A footnote on your auction can help too.

Something like "payment must be made in 3 days after auction ends; by buying this item, you are agree to this"

Provided the international buyer can read English.....

Thats the problem, I can't even send an invoice, I just get a message saying that its under the global shipping scheme and that eBay have already sent an invoice. Ive just tried to speak to customer services who have been no help whatsoever, the only response I have gotten is "Matthew, you will be able to remvoe the global shipping options on the item which has been Active. However, the items which has been sold for that you will not be able to remove the global shipping option since the item was sold under Global shipping programme." and they can't combine the postage either

I have great sympathy with you mate. I too almost fell foul to this stupid global shipping program about 3 weeks ago. I was selling an iPhone and could not work out why i was getting emails from Italy, Romania and Holland. Double checked my postage and certain i clicked the option to not allow postage outside the UK. Checked a little further and found i had been automatically enrolled into this ****.

Fortunately i spotted it but had to sit and man manage every bid and cancel every foreign bid.

I find the most annoying thing now when selling on ebay is that it is no longer possible to give negative feedback to a buyer. I can't understand why they now allow this as its impossible to warn other ebay sellers about non paying bidders. If there was a decent alternative to ebay I would definitely take it, they are rip off merchants as far as I can see

I understand why - it's to stop retaliation feedback. My one negative says something like "I was sick so couldn't post and you rubbed it in with a neg!" after I paid for something, never heard anything and had to go through paypal.

But I agree that it's not a good solution at all.

I feel like I'm one of the few people that hasn't been shafted by eBay. There have been instances where someone has not paid for something in good time, or I've had an item not turn up but PayPal has always had my back on that matter. Hell, I have more issues with PayPal than eBay.

I have a new macbook pro to list but I'm concerned about getting hammered with fees. Quite sad as I used to love ebay and have like 500 feedback.

My account hasn't been used to sell for 5 or 6 years.

Christ. I just opened up a new and sealed copy of NSMB2 for 3DS and Pitney Bowes have done it again:

Somehow they've managed to slash the game through the plastic and have cut through the sleeve. I think I'm going to be spending tomorrow evening shouting at someone over the phone, especially if eBay try to hide behind the seller again.

I wish this were more publicised. We should try contacting magazines or newspapers. Why doesn't (INSERT MAG HERE) run a feature on this ****?

Well, what's upsetting about it is that when you contact eBay, their first reaction is to ask you to file a case against the seller. The seller really doesn't deserve to be penalised, as their packaging was replaced in transit. I don't want to punish someone who has acted in good faith and might become wary of selling overseas as a result.

Precisely. The press needs to document this, and there needs to be a backlash. We should all group together to write a series of statements and have Charles post a copy to EDGE, GamesTM, GamesMaster and Retro Gamer. And any other mags he can think of.

eBay damages goods, then tells you to make a complaint about an innocent 3rd party, so they can then punish said 3rd party for their own transgressions.

It's like going to the police to say a policeman murdered a family member of your neighbour, and then the police chief saying you should make a false claim your neighbour did it, and then the police go around and execute the rest of the family for killing one of their own (even though the original murder was by the police themselves).

****ing hell. We are literally living in an actual Orwellian nightmare. The sooner NATO and Russia stop prancing around like shy newly-weds and carpet the planet with atomic fire, the better off everyone will be.

This thread makes me so angry. GAH! ****ing idiotic bastards at ebay.

I feel for you Decider, and the seller, because this is the kind of thing which could happen to any one of us. How dare those imbeciles try to pass the blame on to someone entirely innocent, for their own cock up! It's a complete travesty of justice.

This is the **** you read about in dystopian fiction. This is Kafka. Or Orwell. Or HP Lovecraft. Bull**** like this is not supposed to happen in reality. No one is accountable. No one can be touched. And they can just punish anyone they like for nothing. "Oh, we destroyed your package, so let's hang the seller up by his gonads until he apologises."

Then again, maybe I shouldn't be surprised. That Brazilian guy was ground into hamburger on the London underground for no reason at all by police. So something as small scale as screwing people on eBay isn't such a big jump.

It's been almost two months now and I'm still having problems 2 weeks ago I got an email from a buyer in France claiming that his game case was damaged in the post and that the first disk didn't work, he also complained that the postage fees were too high. I emailed him back and explained that eBay were responsible for the postage fees and that a separate company repackaged and sent his game to him from the UK and recommended that he contacted eBay directly. Instead what he did was open up a claim on PayPal and emailed me that he had found a replacement disk and case, but is still unhappy with the postage and would like a partial refund. I contacted eBay twice and the only response I got was that because it was a PayPal claim there was nothing they could do about it. Contacted paypal and didn't even get a reply. I emailed the guy back and said that he needs to contact eBay. The claim was escalated to a dispute and I just got an email from PayPal that they are giving the guy a full refund. I'm furious with this as now that I'm in Japan I can't even get the game back (my auction said no returns accepted for this reason), the guy offered no proof that the game was damaged and neither of his complaints had anything to do with me. Luckily I didn't have any money in my account and all of my cards have expired so PayPal can't take the money out of my account, so my account stands at minus ?33 at the moment, I'd prefer to not have any debts but I'm also not willing to give that company another penny either
