I dunno though, theres a lot of hate for SVC and that's the holy grail of Neo Geo. People on there can be critical, SS0 has a lot to live up to and I don't think i've read one bad thing on there so far. I'll find out on Monday.

Beautiful Japanese insert btw: (big images)

mmm- that's what I call box art.

I saw this running in my local Sega World (5 minutes from my house) about a month back and I can tell you that it really does look dated next to all the other games there. Even SNK Vs Capcom Chaos makes this new Samurai Showdown game look old !!. The game is produced by a company called Yuki. I know nothing about Neo Geo stuff compared to the fan boys but from what I saw I wouldn't recommend this game. But, saying all that, I never played it. So it could actualy turn out to be a great game

That's because there's probably some large amounts of cutting and pasting from the prequels, however don't quote me on that as I can't be 100% sure

It is 13 year old hardware mate It's considered to be more visually impressive than SVC though I think. The effects couldn't be much worse tbh
Yuki had some of the original SS team working on it too. There probably is some cut n' paste but the new characters look great.

                          Excellent game!
I've only had an hour or two with it so far but i'm impressed. It fits in with the others very well. Nice familiar presentation and music. It looks lovely IMO. Very clean and colourful. I think it might be a little less detailed than 4, I haven't played that in a while, i'd have to check, but the characters don't look any worse off for it. Effects are as nice as ever, no SVC chunkyness. Blood looks great. The pace is just right too.
Backgrounds are good. A mix of new ones and re-drawn ones for the old characters. There are familiar bits of all the previous games rolled into this but re-done and I mean in graphics and gameplay.
The realy impressive thing about Zero though is the cast of characters. There are loads of em, and the best bunch yet. All your favourites plus some really great new ones that are genuinely worthy additions. Something for everyone.
The new control set-up takes a lot of getting used to tbh. A is weak slash, B medium, A+B strong, C is kick and D is used entirely for rolls and evades. I'm still hitting D to kick so I won't comment on whether this all works just yet. >_< The game could really do with 5 buttons but it's easy enough to get into if you're familiar with 4. Just got to remember to roll more
My main gripe with the game so far is there's no English story mode, which is a shame. Make sure you keep the Language Japanese as there's loads of text and nice art-work you'll miss. Other than that, I can't fault it. If you've got other Sam Sho's, you might say it's just more of the same and I guess it is. Visually, it doesn't have the jump up that the others had but that's hardly surprising and everything is very familiar so I guess it'll take time to see how well the new button lay-out works and how deep the fighting gets to see if it offers anything over the others but on first impressions, on style, fun-ness and characters available, I could easily see myself choosing to play it over 3 and 4. Whether die hard fans will agree with me when they rip the gameplay apart, i'm not sure yet but one thing's for certain, this is NOT the Slug 4 of the series. It can sit next to the others with pride. Easily the best Neo Geo release since SNK died and if you're a fan of the others, you've at least got to try it.

Man, I'm even more tempted after reading that, I also got an email from ECL with their updated price list this morning, SSV is $198 and MS5 is $215(both on MVS)-its like they're begging me to go further into the red
