    Level 5 Event News

Level 5 held an event to talk about all their new games.

    • Fantasy Life 2 is a town building phone game.
    • Layton 7 is a card battling phone game.
    • The main character in the localised Yokai Watch will be called Nathan Adams instead of Keita Amano.

    How wonderful.

You missed out all the good stuff.

New cross media franchise called snack world where you fight using keyrings that you scan into the game, looks a bit like fantasy life. Kind of interested how tho one turns out, they at least have a decent use for the NFC reader unlike Nintends meagre efforts so far. If i'm blowing cash on NFC tat i want games that use it a lot not just some tiny token gesture.

Youkai watch 3 was revealed and it's set in the USA, new watch and medals to go with it. The second season of the anime will tie into the game. The new watch is upgradeable and hs a micro SD card slot.

Youkai busters now has it's own game and is in 2 versions, looks like it will be fleshed out al lot more than just the side mode that it's in the main games.

Yeah, was being a grump and focused on the bad stuff. Really disappointed that they're Americanising Yokai Watch. Been hoping for a good localisation job for ages. I'll see what it looks like when trailers appear but now there is a region free hack for the 3DS I'll probably import.

They pulled the same crap when Inazuma was localized, oh those poor kiddies how will they cope with pronouncing a Japanese name.

I was secretly hoping they'd revive Ushiro but my hopes were dashed yet again, that game so deserves to be released, hell i'd sacrifice a youkai game if it meant we'd get to play it.

            Why level 5 WHYYYY

I guess the name thing depends on the age of the audience and whether there are audio cues to help kids pronounce them. The Ghibli films usually use all the Japanese names even when dubbed and they work brilliantly and some are aimed quite young so I don't see why games shouldn't retain the Japanese names generally.

                GAHHHHHHH!!!!!

I want Yo-Kai Watch so bad but why do we still have to tolerate this renaming characters rubbish? I want Keita Amano, I want Sashimi not Fish and Chips, I want Pickled Octopus Tentacle Snacks not Cheese Puffs... Why can't they just give us a true translation option, I work in a children's hospital, kids aren't that stupid and even if they are it doesn't matter because most who will place this are Emo Teens, Japanophiles and Nerds like me.

I'm starting to think being a Nintendo fangirl is just a Kafkaesque nightmare and really Nintendo are a bunch of sadistic scalper-servicing bastards (I'm blaming them for it not Level-5).

                    So just mobile/hand held stuff?

No Dark Cloud 3 or awesome console RPGs?

                    Pants. (imo)

Given the large instal base of psp in Japan at the time I'm amazed level 5 didn't release it, would of turned a profit for sure. Maybe they came up with a concept and demo but couldn't make a whole game of it.
