    Star Ocean 5

Square is developing a fifth entry into its long running jrpg series. It's apparently in the works for PS3 and PS4 currently, I'm guessing the arrival of the PS3 version will depend on how hard software sales on the older format keep dropping against how far into development the game is.

Akiman's designing the characters. That's pretty cool.

Excellent news. I loved The Second Story and Til The End Of Time particularly the battle systems and extra sidequests and dungeuns. I still havn't done The Last Hope and although i want to it's the totally generic and cliche looking characters that turn me off it. The first Star Ocean i tried so hard to get into on PSP but just found it a total borefest and quit after a few hours.

I put 12 hours into Star Ocean on PSP earlier in the year and it is a complete borefest! Nothing of note happens and the graphics are lifeless.

I finished a last hope, and it was a bit of a mess of a game. Til the end of time I thought the same tbh. Never understood what all the fuss was about over Star Ocean.

They are messy indeed. Combat is unrefined and clumsy.

I liked till the end of time but it got to a point when it became boring and I never finished it.

Couldn't get into any of the others but I always heard good things about the second.

No by all account it's been designed for PS3 and ported to PS4, so don't execpt huge improvements. A lot of RPG are still being released on the PS3 and it still seems to be the major format in Japan as the PS4 take up is so slow over there.

The first two Star Oceans are great game, but the later games and the remakes are awful. Same team that did Tales of Phantasia did the first game hence why they are so close in design and both look stunning on the SFC.

However both series have slipped over the years the 3rd and 4th Star Ocean games really aren't worth playing, neither are that good. No doubt this will be in the bargin bins pretty quickly so say for cash for the Wii U release of Xenoblade Chronicles X

Discover a massive open world RPG in Xenoblade Chronicles X, only on Wii U! Fight for humanity's survival on a distant alien world, Mira, taking on missions, battling lifeforms of all shapes and sizes, and exploring with the aid of a gigantic robotic exoskeleton known as a Skell!

The 3rd and 4th games are wonderful and addictive. There's something about the battles that's very appealing.

Second story is a fantastic RPG imo. One of the few Japanese RPGs to have a UK TV advert if I remember rightly. It remains in my 'Will never sell collection'.

I sold mine last year!!! I kept the PSP-version. Supposedly they are releasing a PS4 port of it later this year?!?!

Really? I've found the 3rd incredibly boring and poorly balanced. Playing it after Tales of Symphonia made the deficencies in the combat system even more glaring.

I don't care about balance. All I care about is DMG, and there was plenty of that. I put plenty of time into that game.
