I thought that it merely dumper your own ROMs from carts and stored them locally? I could be wrong of course, I've been getting feature mixed up between this and the Retron5.

I read somewhere that you can't use flash carts. I don't know for sure though. I've only got one Mega Drive game.
      Kept you waiting, huh?

It's not totally clear from the Google translated Retro Freak site, but it seems to indicate you can play ROMs you've simply copied to an SD card. If you can't, that's a bit lame imo.

Interesting that you say that this and the Retron5 work by dumping an inserted cart and then playing the ROM from their local storage. That makes sense - and it wouldn't surprise me if Everdrives didn't work because of that. You shouldn't need one for it anyway though.

I know you can play roms with a retro freak, there is a video of a guy on youtube running it with over 4000 (!) games taking up 19gb on a 32gb micro SD, it ran everything he threw at it. As mentioned the Retron 5 can run roms but it's not as simple as the retro freak.

Not a huge issue though as it also runs from Micro SD. As you mentioned it's interesting to see that if you're running from an original cartridge it does a rom dump to the ram rather than running it continuously from the cartridge like the original systems did.

That's because it is an emulation box. The extra cartridge components aren't necessary.

This comes with a universal ac adaptor - does that mean that I can use this with just a travel plug or will I need a stepdown too?

If it's like the Framemister then a travel plug will be just fine. Best to get an answer from someone who actually owns one though.

I think a mini emu PC would most likely better be a better option than one of these, which is what I think I'm going to go for as my retro replacement once I clear out all of my retro kit.

Yer thing about pc emulation is that for the most part it's nigh on perfect where are the likes of Android whilst getting better, are not really near that level.
