    Her Story (PC/Mac/iOS)

Looking forward to this, the Eurogamer summary explains it well, the phrase interactive story makes me think of Night Trap on the Mega CD though.

Her Story, the detective game from Sam Barlow, the writer and lead designer of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, is out this month.

Her Story comes out 24th June on PC, Mac, iPad and iPhone. A new trailer is below.

The game plays like an interactive true crime documentary. You dig into a police database full of live action video footage of a 1994 interrogation of a woman, played by actress Viva Seifert, whose husband went missing. The footage has been chopped up, her testimony analysed by speech recognition software, and her words attached to each clip. The story, and who you are, remains ambiguous - deliberately.

Bought this on Steam last night ?4.19, won't start a First Play thread will just post in here. Is ?3.99 on iPad etc.

Totally loving it. Even the 90's PC look filter you can switch on and off looks great.

There are about 270 clips it seems, between 10 and 90 seconds each, it tracks the one's you've seen, I found around 50 different clips in my first hour. The clips aren't in order but are date and time stamped.

It seems easy at first. You type in words like 'ALIBI', 'BODY', and 'SIMON', the name of the dead man. Lots of results come back and your database tracker fills up. But the deeper you go, the harder it gets. You have to get creative with word combinations and listen carefully for important clues: names, dates, places. The last few red squares took me over an hour to find. It took six hours to find them all. As the game went on, the increasingly rare sight of an unplayed clip was a genuine thrill. I felt like a detective on the verge of cracking a case.
Reviews are glowing, this PC Gamer one explains things well

Sitting at 87/100 on Metacritic too
Her Story is the new game from Sam Barlow, creator of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Aisle. A crime fiction game with non-linear storytelling, Her Story revolves around a police database full of live action video footage. I bought the iOS version this morning but it seems I didn't manage to finish downloading it before leaving the house, boo.

Still, it sounds great. A little worried that the iPhone isn't going to be the best way to play it, but if I'm actually going to try it (which I fully intend to) then this is going to be the only way I'll find the time.

iPhone will be fine, assume videos will play full screen, just make sure you listen to what she says and you'll be fine.

Just bought this via Steam. Not tried it yet but first impressions look good from around the net. This came out of the blue.

How you finding it guys? guess I've seen around 60% of the clips by now.

Someone has already uploaded all 271 of them on to Youtube is date and time order, and people have posted lists of words you need to use to see all clips, never before have I avoided so many game information online for fear of spoilers, or the above.

Is there a way you can see how many of the total clips you've watched?

I just started it today on the commute, and really love it. The guy next to me was enjoying it too, if him staring over my shoulder the whole time is any indication. Was afraid that the interface would fall apart on a phone, but it's actually working out great. I feel like I've deviated from the main story quite a lot already, but I do love having that complete control over where things are going.

There is, got to the game desktop and there is a shortcut called "DB Checker" or similar, click on that, and it shows all the one's you've seen, all will be self-explanatory.

Have seen the "ending" now. Am eight clips short of the 271 in the game, but have given up finding them for now. Had a week of writing down words at work and making a list on my phones etc and it's been great fun

Just looked and so many theories etc on the Steam forums.

I feel like I've got the main pieces of the puzzle down, yet I'm missing a tonne of clips and do feel like there's still something substantial I've not yet got to. I've enjoyed it so far but I have to admit I'm tempted to 'cheat' for the rest of it. I'm not sure if there's any particularly juicy keywords you'd recommend before I cave completely?

Listed some words that I know have a few decent matches.... last one is important.

                      Lie
F**k - obviously put it in correctly
                      Twins
                      Sugar
                      Blonde
                      Birthday
                      Cheated
                      Shirt
                      Always
                      Throat

Apparently is well worth watching all the clips in time order (can do this easily on a PC or on Youtube) even after you're done with the game. Think there's around 100 minutes worth in total.

Done with this now, had to look up the last four words/clips I must admit. But seens all 271 videos now.
Entertaining stuff while it lasted, must have spent about three and a half hours on it in total.

Did the draw achievement in the mini Reversi game by myself too.

I'm so unobservant at times, only just realised she was tapping out morse code on the desk at a number of points....

Has sold over 100,000 copies across the three formats in one month, not bad for such a niche game

Her Story 2 is in development, which is great news, though sure it won't have the same impact as the original

Non-linear full-motion video detective tale Her Story is getting a sequel, developer Sam Barlow has confirmed.
