    Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival

So I've finally stopped reeling from Nintendo's E3 Direct and preordered this (?54.99 at Amazon UK but hoping that goes down!!!!)

Basically it seems to be a board game you play by tapping the Animal Crossing amiibo to roll dice and through those moves you earn money/points which (they've not shown this I'm just piecing it together based on the Amazon description) that you can then spend that on minigames.

Supposedly the game is also available as a free download but obviously you need the amiibo to play.

You can also bring homes made in Happy Home Designer on 3DS into this game via amiibo.

    Sounds really boring. Have fun.

I know, clutching at straws with this to be honest (and Super Mario Maker which I also preordered but am very lukewarm towards).

Who are the 8 AC Amiibo? There is one I spotted that I don't recognise. One with a bow.

I think Digby and Lottie come from Happy Home Designer.

If Nintendo have any sense they'll port Happy Home Designer to Wii U to remedy the Animal Crossing Wii U E3 fiasco.

Digby is the guy at the gate in New Leaf, related to Isabelle I think. But yeah, Lottie is the one I didn't recognise. They are gorgeous Amiibos. Did I see a female villager one or did I make that up?

No, the village is still a sausage-fest.

Ah, a google search shows a fan made one I must have seen. It's really nicely made with a box and everything.

The Mario Party 'board' games are well made and can be a real laugh, so maybe this is too. If I had a WiiU I wouldn't be presumptuously disappointed by this prospect at all.

I think the disappointment came from all the gaming journos predicting a regular Animal Crossing for Wii U in their E3 predictions and with AC being in Mario Kart 8 DLC and the new 3DS AC looking like a sub-game we all assumed something amazing and immersive would come for Wii U.

What they've shown of this game so far is woeful (a board game with text based events, no actual mini games) but the Amazon blurb mentions minigames and the Treehouse where they played this said there was more to the game which they're not showing yet so hopefully that takes it a more Nintendo Land route which I think would be fantastic for Animal Crossing fans or fans of kawaii/cuteness (probably not a big crowd for that here, Me for sure, maybe Importaku and Kryss).

TBH they're actually pretty mixed. 8 was poor, 9 was just about OK, and 10 is really pretty lame. It's agonisingly slow and feels like it's made more for little kids.

Fortune Street is the king of video boardgames.

This is bound to be better than Sonic Shuffle though, right?

I don't understand; isn't the game free? How is it ?55? Do you get ALL the Amiibos in that package?

The ?55 is just Amazon's pre-order price now I reckon it'll end up costing me ?35-?40, Yoshi's Woolly World was ?49.99 at one point but is now ?32 to pre-order with a ?39.99 RRP.

You get the Game Disc, 2x Animal Crossing amiibo figures (image shows Isabelle and Digby but I think it's random) and a pack of amiibo cards (x3 in a pack).

I think the disc is mostly to make it clear it's a video game at retail and it's for those who don't download or have a basic Wii U with no space to download or people like me who just like a physical collection. I'd guess you can't buy the disc without Amiibo as they're a requirement of the game and the fact it's 2 amiibo figures packed in is to justify the full release price tag. Then the download is for people who just want to buy the Amiibo (probably ?15/?20 RRP each I'd guess.

Thanks for the threat Pikate; placed pre-orders for both the WiiU and 3DS versions. That'll be some Xmas presents sorted.

When are the release dates? I didn't see one on Amazon.
