RC Pro Am on NES and Gameboy, now thankfully given a second life on Rare Replay. Brilliant fun. Apparently Racing Gears on GBA is also excellent, but I can't get into it.

I didn't like Racing Gears myself.

That one totally missed me by! Yeah, it looks my sort of thing. It's supposed to out-Burnout Burnout, which leads me neatly to Burnout.

My personal favourite was Burnout 2 before all the "takedown" malarky became too prominent.

Nice, chunky and solid visuals with some fantastic risk/reward gameplay as you ploughed up the wrong way of the motorway to fill your boost meter. I loved how when you activated it, the screen blurred and the levels in the music shifted so the guitars became louder. Great game and it's one of a handful of PS2 games I still pop into my PS3 occasionally.

I like drifting a lot. It's a pretty impractical way of racing, but it looks ace.

Popped in to see if QC had mentioned Stuntman like he usually does.
Wasn't disappointed.

Burnout 2 was just dull after a while. The races were just too long and the constant crashing disrupted the flow. Burnout 3 improved that and was better when you turned the Takedown camera off.

Flatout 2 is just utterly brilliant. Absolutely loved the natural feel of the racing.

I aim to please! It's great, isn't it?

Although I think I prefer the levels on the PS2 game, especially driving through the office in Blood Oath (John Woo style) and the bridge jump in Whoopin' and a Hollerin' (based on the one from The Man with the Golden Gun), they totally nailed down the gameplay.

The original was really tough and frustrating at times, but the sequel had a brilliant combination of just finishing the stunt combined with stringing the stunts to get a 100% completion rate, which always felt just out of fingertips reach and "one more go" will nail it. The replays showed how hitting those marks added together to make an exciting scene and it almost felt like a puzzle game like Mr. Domino at times!

I think I was finishing the last section, Night Avenger, as you were starting, Fader209.

Subject change.
Anyone got any mobile driving game suggestions?
Tofu Run and Drift Sumi-E are fun.

Has to be Sega Rally, Outrun 2, and Ridge Racer...

I like my racing fun, not realistic.

Hmmm. It looks like Stuntman Ignition's Creative Director, Shawn Wright, moved on to Good Science Studios who did a few kinect games and are now working on the Hololens project.

I know you're a big fan of Bordersdown, Shawn, so when you read this, thanks for the awesome game!

Was surprised not to see Gran Turismo mentioned, but then I realised the thread title said momentous, not monotonous.

Project Gotham Racing for me, back in the day I put in hundreds of hours into it. The graphics for its time were stunning, I loved, LOVED the Kudos system and imo nothing has ever come close to it, and the game play was utterly sublime. A true classic.

Kudos system was from Metropolis Street Racer, and that has been mentioned a bunch of times

Arcade wise, for me it has to be Rave Racer! Love that game so much, shame you didn't really see many around
Also those days of your entire crew jumping into a car and driving 20/30 miles odd just to play Daytona at the Service Station. Back when they had Arcades instead of just fruit machines or to the closest Bowling Alley for the same! Rolling Start, Sonic on the rocks, 777, the entire soundtrack, just TOO MUCH AWESOMENESS!

PGR all of them with Vanpeebles @Team Andomeda and my other internet early years buddies, pure joy.

F Zero GX I pretty much run that at every event I exhibit at, not that I'm any good at it. But it is a fantastic competition racer, the snaking thing I've never been into mind you. Tbh I wouldn't even consider trying it as vanilla racing on this takes it to another level as it is! You kind of get stuck in a parallel universe whilst playing & It takes over your bloody neural system I swear! Also I can't play it for more than one race at a time as I go into a form of shock once over the finish line
