Games that you play at Christmas or remind you of it

So me and my brother always have a tradition of Saturn Bomberman over the New Year and Christmas great game and the snow stages have a bit of a Xmas feel to them. What games do you like to play and why.

We are also looking at Xmas games at Randomised Gaming and any snowboarding game is great this time of year.

    Aaaah nice!

I have really vivid memories of getting my Game Boy one Christmas.
They weren't widely available, but my parents managed to get me one from Toys R Us, I think.
I was a little let down that I hadn't got one at first, then they sneaked outside and they rang the doorbell and it was waiting for me.
I'm definitely going to use this trick in the future!

I played Tetris so much that I could see falling blocks when I closed my eyes.
I played Marioland and remember being really nervous at the final boss in the shoot-em-up section.

    Ah, happy days!

My parents put my Sega Saturn box on my desk in my bedroom whilst I was still asleep. They then got my older sister to run into the room and drag me out of bed hurriedly to come downstairs and open presents, so I ran right past it. It was only after opening everything that my Dad said "how did you run past your biggest present?" prompting me to run upstairs and lose my ****.

Hehe these stories are great. I remember my PlayStation broke one year, so I was just Megadrivin' it for quite a while (no bad thing, but I did miss playing the latest games). My parents told me that they would eventually get me a new PlayStation, but maybe when the price dropped etc.

At Christmas that year, I remember they had bought me 5 new PlayStation games, which I opened one after the other - with my excitement dimmed only by the fact that I'd have to wait for a new machine to be able to play them. They faked me out too, by saying 'yes, yes, you'll have to wait for a new console to play them on'.

Right at the back of all the other presents under the tree there was a box hidden, with a new PlayStation inside. Naturally I was overjoyed

Great memories of receiving my Gameboy for Christmas too. I think I drove my parents insane with the Super Mario Land music.

I don't really have a Christmas game - I'm thinking of having a burst on Christmas NiGHTS for the first time ever this week though. I've not played it before as it feels inappropriate to play it when it's not actually the season!

My Dad told me once that the console batteries would last longer if I didn't play with sound. To this day, I'm not sure if this is true. I think there's a degree of truth to it in that powering a speaker requires a current (or something like that) but it really can't be all that much.

You think... That those blips and bloops just annoyed him? haha

I'd say that the SNES gave me the fondest gaming-related Christmas memories, with Super Mario World and Star Wing. The NES gave me game-related Christmas memories of the TMNT game, so it's an auto loss.

It's probably both. I think it is true but that's not the reason he told you!

My standout gaming of Christmas was when i was got a Sega Mega Drive, along with Sonic 2 in 1992. I was so excited with the hope of getting it, that Xmas morning i was so happy. In those days lol i i never quite knew if my parents took in the subtle hints i dropped in the months leading up to the big day Though for some strange reason i also received a pointless accessory that doesn't make any sense even to this day- a Mega Drive carry case lol!!!

On Christmas Day I tend to put on GT5 on the PS3 just to hear the Christmas music.

I suppose you could set the date manually to 25/12 just to hear it but I like to do it on the day itself.

Playing the Saturn on Christmas 1996 had a magically feel, doesn't feel right if I don't have a new game to play on the Saturn each Christmas, got one for this year but the selection is heavily drying up these days. As I have most of the good games I'm interested in playing.

Two new videos fro are selection of games:

I also remember getting my Japanese Megadrive one Christmas.
My dad had gone to an indie shop and picked one up with Golden Axe.

I know have clear memories of firing it up and the theme music starting "Rrrrrump de dump, doodee dump de dump".
