It's finally time.

Nintendo have officially announced that they will be closing the WiiU eShop in late March 2023.

Credit cards can no longer be used to add funds as of 23rd May 2022 and Nintendo eShop card funds can no longer be added to WiiU eShop accounts as of 29th August 2022. However, download codes can still be redeemed until late March 2023.

Only online play, software updates and redownloads will still be possible after March 2023.

New WiiU system update removes the ability to add payment to WiiU eShop accounts.

However, payment can still be added between now and end of March next year if your Nintendo Network account is linked to your eShop accounts.

QFT. It's hilarious that people in this very forum were trying to defend the WiiU. Garbage console from start to end.

Looks like mine still works but I'll obviously now have to hack it for homebrew to get that NAND backup and even that isn't a complete guarantee of hardware retrieval.

Fully off and unplugged it seems. You’d probably be fine with it going on a few times a year to stave the issue off.
