The PC Sonic Adventure plays in a 4:3 windowed box (even in fullscreen) in a restrictive set of resolutions, and its joypad support isn't great. It was also a weird chimera of a game. It's a port of the 360 version, which was a conversion of the GameCube version, which was a port of the Dreamcast version of the original game with some assets from Sonic Adventure 2 thrown in. I've always felt DX looks worse than the original; better in a technical sense but worse in an aesthetic sense.
The mods fix this so that it is proper widescreen, with an uncapped framerate and better pad and resolution support. They also added options to revert to the Dreamcast assets for certain things like textures, restoring the original look of the game. These were things that really should've been present in the original product.
Of course, it's still not an amazing game. Sonic Adventure never was. But the mods get it to a level where I'm happy to play it for nostalgia purposes.
The Nintendo Switch version needs to at least run in the correct, unbordered, widescreen resolutions at a solid 60fps, unlike the PS360 versions.

I think that will help sway the wife!
I'm just worried I'll get hand cramps on the little controllers as I have the hands of man, not of a Beadle.

BTW, if anyone has the Wii U's USB adapter for GameCube controllers, you can use it to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with GC controllers. Just plug the adapter into the Switch dock in TV mode, and you're there. Works rather well, but unfortunately the rumble feature doesn't function with the game.
