They’re going to do it I reckon.
What I will say is that I think Nintendo will delay the announcement for Switch 2 for as long as they possibly can. I'd be surprised if an official announcement for it came before late February.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 05-11-2024, 13:54.

"Console hardware market had a horrible time, down 21% overall across tracked European markets. PS5 sales dropped 20% year-on-year, Switch sales were down 15% and Xbox Series S/X sales were down 48%. Lack of big games had an impact. 2025 will be better."
I don't know the baseline but a 15% fall for Switch, a console close to entering its ninth year on the market, sounds fantastic
PS5's results are hugely misleading too. It was up 177% in 2023 so a drop of 20% is just market settling.
Xbox fell 18% in 2023 so its results are the one that is actually horrific and reflective of the scalr of brand destruction MS wrought last yearLast edited by Neon Ignition; 15-01-2025, 18:45.

Red Dead Redemption II has passed 70m copies sold
Grand Theft Auto V has passed 210m. However, it is no longer earning enough to offset hundreds of millions in Take Two losses meaning GTA6's launch is very much required now
RDR2 70m is well deserved but where’s the 60fps update? Criminal.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 09-02-2025, 15:42.

I was curious about why they had booked such a huge loss and it's because of their purchase of Zynga in 2022. They made a $2.2bn payment as part of that purchase in the last quarter which accounted for most of the $2.9bn loss they posted.
Presumably the plan is that they're gonna recoup all of that and then some when GTA 6 drops, which tbh is not unreasonable.

If anyone really wants to challenge Switch it really highlights how Sony may be the only company realistically positioned to do so
I do feel Sony are going to have another stab at the portable side, but it would have to be 100% compatible with the home console library for seamless purchasing, how they achieve that is anyone’s guess.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 25-02-2025, 19:16.

According to HIdeki Yasuda, a Japanese analyst, the President of Square Enix (Takashi Kiryu) said that FFXVI sold over 3.5 million units during the financial results briefing. https://kabutan.jp/news/marketnews/?b=n202503130535 Edit: Sold over. I'm going to assume that's somewhere between 3.5...
