    Anyone in Japan played this?

Wangan Midnight: Maxi Boost, it's an aracde racer developed for Namco by Genki. Looks a bit like Initial D.

Not really a spin off, it's based on the manga of the same name, it's just Namco chose Genki to develop it as it had already had the framework for the game as a result of the Shotoko Battle series.

This game is just part of the Shutokou battle series by Genki. This isn't the first time Namco have used Genki to produce an arcade game. THe one before this called err, bugger can't remember now. maybe it was Midnight Battle or something like that. Anyway that was even more of a Shutokou Battle rip off. In fact you could say that it was Shutokou Battle in an arcade machine 8) It wouldn't even suprise me if namco had nothing to do with the development of the game. They did it with Bio Hazard Gun Suvivor in Japan. Capcom made the game (Dreamcast port) but Namco's name was all over the arcade cabinet.
