True, tbh I've not upgraded anything to 4k, neither TV's or PC screens, not been worth the vague gains imo. 1080p 60 is fine.

July will be better, and that's what they should hype up as the time we see the next-generation. This should have been pitched as a quick look at games on Xbox Series X in the first 12-months.
In the feature it was made clear Halo is coming out and that and other In House games will be shown off in July and yet 'some' are treating this feature like it the BIG Series X show for all what MS been working on and all its got to show off this summer
Which is silly and even while the feature wasn't the best , some of the games looked great, unlike Nagoshi-san fake teeth

That said the Human character modeling seen In Resident Evil 7, Remake 2/3, Gears V, Detroit Too Human, COD is quite realistic.

Also the criticism was across the board; Journalists (Kotaku, Polygon), Streamers (inc. Partners) and fans. That's why the GM of Xbox Marketing acknowledged they messed up.Last edited by Digfox; 12-05-2020, 18:34.

I think of Forza Horizon 4 here which looks great in the standard mode but flick it to 60fps and it's a different game, yet doesn't lose much graphical fidelity in the process... I mean it definitely drops but it is so much quicker you don't notice.

Outside of less demanding indie games I'm definitely sure that 60fps games will remain rare infrequent releases barring the obvious subjects such as the Call of Duty games etc. As great as the experience is on Xbox One X playing MS games at 60fps it's only able to maintain that feat by virtue of it running games designed for 2013 consoles that had fairly dated tech when they released. It's definitely nice that MS places a greater importance on it than Sony does but presumably by the time XSX first party games begin to truly stop being built with the XBO systems in mind they will require users to get a Series X2 to continue enjoying 60fps at 4K for risk of being left behind by the competition.
MS are very good at optimising their software though and they've become adept at cheating their way through to make an impression and not be forced to compromise too much so that might offset it. Forza is a bit like Gran Turismo in that loads of dated assets are still deployed and trackside detail is generally pretty low leaving overhead. Gears 5 is probably the benchmark for XBO exclusives and it does look good but cuts corners like a race car champion.
I got sick of seeing that image, especially in discussions about the game looking good. That doesn't look good at all but it's effective enough. It's literally two trees with depth of field applied to them placed over a 2D backdrop image. Most of Gears is carried by art direction, there's nothing wrong with that but as the generation leaves the older one behind that choice of 4K or 60fps will get harder.
I can see why too, for me it's immediately apparent the difference between 1080p and 2160p. It's pretty night and day and 1080p can be a little hard to go back to so the temptation is definitely there to accept 30fps in most games to maintain resolution. Checkerboarding is an effective tool though on offer however XBX vs Pro put a bit of a stigma about that around it for some. My fave is the good old 1400p option. It's amazing on PC as to how effective it is at allowing you to have everything running high and maintain 60fps when 4K causes too many issues to achieve the same result. It looks incredibly clean and sharp as well, a very small step below 2160p but still a lot better than 1080p but presumably mileage depends on the screen size the user is using and I tend to stick with gaming on the 43" rather than on the 70" which will help.
In all honesty, 60fps really is a minority pursuit. If I were MS I'd definitely pursue 4K 30fps for better visuals but make a point to include presets allowing you to sacrifice resolution for framerate rather than rigidly always adhere to 4K 60fps.

I think it's better if they support both but make it standard to provide options to the gamer. Maybe not enforce that it has to be 4K or it has to be 60fps or 120fps... But do make it a requirement that your game, if it's not an indie, must provide options to favour frame rate over just graphical fidelity.
Tomb Raider is another one I remember has some decent options for this but while I still preferred the 60fps mode I felt it was less important due to the speed of the gameplay in general. I'm just glad they added the options in because at the end of the day it actually makes a difference.

And how much is the likes of IGN pandering to the masses ..Like I said, listen to likes of IGN Halo at E3 2001 wasn't a jump and many of the press weren't that impressed with the 360 showing at E3 2005 . John and DF can play the pandering game .Listen to him he'll have difficulty fiting the Series X in his set up.Shame then some of his latest videos show plenty of space for the Series X and more
And it's funny how there was a massive difference from 900p to 1080p for DF, but no one can tell the difference between 1080p to Native 4k .
Unless you have a crap TV or need to go to Specsavers, the difference is clear.... Just watch DF make a big deal over sound, next gen *Roll Eyes*Last edited by Team Andromeda; 13-05-2020, 08:16.
