Sega Master System: A visual compendium (Bitmap Books) now live on Kickstarter.

Doing ok so far I would imagine this will get funded easily.

This has comfortably met its original funding goal.

I have backed, and now own, several Bitmap Books titles - all of which are quality. I will be pledging for a hardcover copy of this very soon.

PAL and NTSC-U Master System boxart, perhaps.

JPN Sega Mark III game boxart wasn't like that at all.

I bought My dad a Visual Compendium think it was the Zx Spectrum, I thought it looked nice but to be honest i would much rather have a Less visual Compendium a few screenshots but lots of text and more condensed, Bit like that Book untold history of Japanese Games Developers

all joking aside yeah i agree the mkIII stuff is pretty nice which makes the decision even more stupid that they decided to go and give someones kid a pile of crayons and left them in charge of making the western stuff. Thankfully as time went on the western boxes did improve somewhat but the early gen ms stuff was disgustingly bad.

I do see where you're coming from. The same thing can be said about early PAL and NTSC-U NES boxart with the boring black boxes and sprite art.

Personally, it all carries fond memories for me as the Master System was the very first console that I ever played on.

Backed this, I bought the SNES one and enjoyed reading through it, although usually its only one picture per game and just some text about why some random person liked the game. Would be nice if there were more photos per game and more of an in-depth look at the history of the console and games, but then that would probably take a whole series of books and thousands of pages.

The NES, SNES, and this new Master System book all contain excerpts from my Untold History books.

I've spoken a lot with the guy behind Bitmap Books, regarding this book, and there's going to be quite a lot of content from people involved with the games. You can probably guess some of them based on what my books featured.

He's putting a lot of effort in for this.

Made my thoughts on Bitmap's use of Kickstarter known before, so I won't be backing the campaign but will probably pick the book up at retail afterward. The NES and SNES books were enjoyable and there's a lot I'd like to know about the Master System.

My copy of this recently arrived - haven’t had time to properly sit down and read it though, but am familiar with it already as backers got a copy of the PDF.

                      Anybody else?

My copy arrived last week. I held off looking at the PDF so it wouldn’t spoil the real thing when it arrived. Looks very nice but I haven’t read much of it yet.
