It's simple.
GT1 = flawed physics and handling model
GT2 = fixed handling and European cars (Lotus MMMmmmmm)
GT3 = less cars cheap graphic effects, but essentially the same again.
Driver AI is pretty bad throughout.
I've never really liked any of them that much, but 2 I played a fair bit. 1 I loath, 3 well its ok, but nothing to get sticky over.
You want a racing game then ffs play Test Drive LeMans (DC). The AI in that little sucker is so win.
You want an arcade racer get daytona on DC
You want realistic car physics then play F355.
You want to spend hours building up cash to buy a winning car that no opponent can catch no matter how bad you are then get a GT game
You want the above, but with a challenge get GT2002.
PGR and MSR are both fun alternatives with a good reward system, but poor tracks imo.
