I just finished my first Dark Pictures game (twice) last week. It was the one set in Iraq. House of Ashes, I beleive it was called.
It was okay but I do wish there was more to it. The other story bases games I've played such as Until Dawn and other games in the series had a lot more in them. They were also a lot more gruesome. Did I just play the worst in the Dark Pictures anthology?

Hard one to call. House of Ashes is considered to be one of the better ones but personally it fell flat with me. None of them hit as well as the full length games, but are brief enough to be alright. Given how long this one has taken I'm suspecting this will be a longer entry

I think the second one is the best in the series, certainly has the best opening of all of them.

Yep, I enjoyed the setting of the first one - the second is probably the best overall package. Ashes fell flat for me, the fourth was alright but the plot got away from them.

I've played all of the Dark Pictures Anthology except the most recently released one, The Devil In Me. The main thing I would say is that the best one, by far, is Until Dawn. That one had the biggest budget and longest development by far and it really shows. It's a brilliant game.

To me the follow-ups are diverting but not ultimately that great. I honestly don't think there's much to pick between the three I've played, they're all a similar standard.

Ah, it's not just me then. I'll wait for reviews of this new entry before jumping in. Glad you mentioned House of Ashes was meant to be one of the better entries. That saves me wasting cash on the others.
