Shenmue sticks out for me. I'd avoided the hype so it hit me pretty hard.

More recently, playing PGR2 on the first Edinburgh track. That was so awesome, scarily accurate, right down to the building work on the national gallery. Great stuff haring along roads I've driven down in real life before.

Astro Boy made me think "Wow what a great game" only just yesterday

I dunno if anything will ever beat the WOW factor I experienced when I first played Dreamcast Ikaruga though...that was something else.

R: Racing Evolution over 'ere, along with Crimson Skies. God, I'm such a pudding when it comes to arcadey-flight sim thingies.

It's so sad that UGA are no longer around, not as they were at least.
They were sooooo creative. Just to elaorate a little, I nearly fell of my seat when I saw Space Channel 5 for the first time on some crappy gaming show on Sky TV. I knew I needed it, and that it wouldn't let me down. It didn't. I have that whole game memorised, every beat. Part 2 is so great. I love all the little nods to the the original game.

I just bought a PS2 a day or two ago. I got a few games with it, along with Space Channel 5 Special Edition. None of the people I'm staying with are particularly interested in games, period. I've asked them if they want to play before. However, they saw me playing Space Channel 5 and were asking to play. And they enjoyed it. I told them about Samba. Now they want that too, and Konga. Expensive !

Heh... Matt Gray actually used part of Hubbard's Kentilla music for some of this track you know. In fact, there's quite a bit of "borrowing" all over the place for the entire suite of music. But it's still my favourite set of tracks (for one game) for the C64. Individual pieces on other games might be better, but the whole PACKAGE for this one game (13 tracks) was outstanding. I especially love the very first piece that plays whilst Central Park is loading...

In recent times it was Final Fantasy IX. I wasn't expecting much from the game, but it's actually very cool. Especially at the begining of it.

Burnout 2 would be another recent game that I did this in. It's just so fun, which is something I've found lacking from recent games.

Dark Savior surprised me. I was expecting it to be pretty average, but I really enjoed it, and I still am.
