Critics Club IV: The Greatest Game of the 1970's

Okay, so this one had been simmering in the background of plans whilst the third Critics Club run was still in motion but as we'll be taking a breather from that for a bit once the 90's era wraps up and since it ties in with the discussion in the thread about consoles without a greatest title attached to them for each of us, let's turn to a definitive wrap up for:

Critics Club IV: The Greatest Game of All Time

So many beloved games and so many enjoyed but then lost in the passage of time and progression when it comes to videogames. Here we'll pit each years output against their peers allowing each release to stand on its own merits for judgment and discussion starting from the very beginning of gaming history with:

The Greatest Game of the 1970's

Grouped together thanks to small output the 70's endured as gaming found itself birthed into consumer minds.
Which titles of the 1970's are your fondest remembered, which are the milestones and which is the very best?

I think Moria was the 80s otherwise I'd choose it. However based on my arcade play of the late 70's I'd say Space Invaders, Galaxian a close second.

I never got on well with the Asteroids controls

Asteroids - Used to love playing that in Butlins when on holidays with my gran for the Snooker and getting to meet all the Snooker player greats like Ray Reardon, Thorburn and the madman Higgins (who was always nice to us)

I think I clicked too many of those... But Galaxian and Space Invaders would be my top two. I have a soft spot for Atari Adventure too, which I rinsed and repeated for seven hours one Christmas Eve / Christmas morning long ago.

When Space invaders hit this country I found it mind blowing and then came Galaxian. My brain exploded and I’ve never been right in the head ever since

I went to Minehead and Barry Island Butlins with my parents for the same reason. I loved the full-size snooker tables there. They also had an arcade in Minehead which had a Scrambke coin-op with the worst joystick I ever saw. It didn’t stop one guy looping the game six times as I watched, though...

Can't see polls on my phone.

                  What are the options?

Yeah, we used to love going to minehead for the Snooker. Always had a great time and almost all the players were super nice and more than willing to sign autographs ect. Lovely times and also when Snooker has loads of characters

Press full screen (top left) to see it on a phone. You'll have to use the style chooser bottom left to switch back to the mobile style after

I went with space invaders. We had pong with the dial controller thingy, but really space invaders was much more interesting to a very young me.

Galaxian is my favourite of all time so that was easy, also played a lot of Asteroids so gave that a tick as well.

Never got on with Space Invaders though, not really sure why.

Also played a lot of Sheriff (Nintendo).
