I dunno if it's the recent Driver chatter or seeing The Fall Guy, but I've been itching to play some more Stuntman: Ignition, so I fired it up on the One.
I have the game on 360, but it was a Game With Gold title a while back.
Saw there were some quick fix levels so I 5* string stunted them all, then saw my save hadn't recorded that I'd previously got 5* on every level so started again to do that.

I love that it's a kind of cross between Driver and Guitar Hero, doing stunts, but trying to get it perfect.

This series is in my top list, easily.

Played through Gestalt: Steam & Cinder, which is a new metroidvania thing for PC which I've played on the Deck. It's very nicely animated and it's a pretty breezy 10 or so hours even if you're gunning for a 100% completion. I enjoyed it enough, but man is it over-written, with regular cut scenes interrupting the flow of things and with word soup making the plot much harder to follow along with than it needed to be.

Also started Psychroma, which is this lo-fi adventure game wrapped up in cyberpunk/horror themes and with narration you can't help but question the reliability of. Lots of retreading your steps to see what you missed and what's available now you've pressed that thing in the other room, but hoping the story goes some places. We'll see.

Away for a few days and the house we're in has a PS5.

I've realised it's the first time we've played on one!
I played some Astro Bot with my daughter and my son has rinsed Miles Morales. I reckon he'll complete all the side missions before we go home!

I helped my niece in some of the trickier bits in a Star Wars game. No idea which one, so I'll make it up, Star Wars: Jedi Punch Guy.

Nothing for much of the last two weeks, far too muggy to be in the mood

Been playing Dragon Quest XI over the past week. Lovely to look at. Gives me that back to basics turn-based JRPG my body has required.

Been playing something called The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, 3DS version. Been meaning to go back to it for a while. After 250 hours spent drifting through the two Switch open world Zeldas I wanted to check if my memory of 'proper' dungeons might have been flattered by old age and nostalgia. It hadn't. It's been a while since I played so the layouts feel quite fresh, and the game remains glorious in every way. Just finished the Forest Temple dungeon.

I've eventually got a janky old PC cobbled together to play Devil Blade Reboot. It's a bit tasty. Feels like a Saturn era shmup to me with a tight focus on gameplay and nice 2d visuals. Haven't missed the faff of PC gaming though...

What with the hype everywhere for the new game, thought I should try dipping into Astro's Playroom at last. Enjoying it, the responsiveness and detail of the environments and the haptics/feedback are amazing, although the jumping is too unpleasantly floaty and Sackboy-ish for my liking. Not sure how well it'll hold up across a full blown game, but it serves well enough for a breezy tech demo and collect-em-up experience.

Went back to No Case Should Remain Unsolved, which is a short little detective game where your character is trying to piece together fragments of their memory around an unsolved case from their past. At first it's quite overwhelming, but when you start realising how to interact with it and then figuring things out, it manages to feel a lot more rewarding than a lot of other similar games have managed. Very nice.

Had a quick blast on Astral Gunners, which I can't say I enjoyed. Don't want to dunk on an indie, but particularly on the back of some blindingly good shmups in this space, this one wasn't for me. Just to echo CMcK above - Devil Blade Reboot is absolutely where you should be looking instead right now.

Tried a little bit of Dungeons of Hinterberg, which, fair play to them, I think slightly oversold me with its trailer. That's not meant to sound as damning as it does, but it goes from quite aggressively walled-in story segments to B-tier character action dungeons with a fair degree of jank. Can still see it potentially being fun though, will try and go back to this and give it another look at some point.

Also just started Chained Echoes, as on the back of the delays to the physical version they've issued Steam keys to tide people over. First impressions are good! It's a turn-based RPG, but it has some ideas! The first scene plays off an RPG trope in a way I really enjoyed! Going to try and see this through, as I've heard good things that seem to be well founded based on the first 30 mins.

Went to Arcade Club and played a few games I hadn't tried before as well as some old staples.

I tried Time Crisis 5 for the first time. It has a dual cover system that lets you shoot from different positions. It's clunky and doesn't really work though. The pedals are right next to each other which feels awkward, and watching every enemy slowly turn to you as you keep moving from position to position to get around their cover was a little comical. It wasn't very fun.

I also tried House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn which was awesome! The cabinet has some environmental effects to simulate wind, lights and so on, and you can select two sub weapons. I really liked the mini gun sub weapon, and feeling the wind from a helicopter blade that got a little too close was a nice touch. It looks gorgeous and was just great to play through. The arcade was closing so we weren't able to finish it unfortunately but I'd love to give it another go.

I also played Pop'n Music. I've tried it in the past and I was never any good at it, but something clicked this time and I was able to hit all of the notes even when things got a little hectic. I want to get into it a bit more.

Over the weekend my son introduced me to Supermarket Simulator on Steam and damn, I didn't think this game would keep me interested for long, but holy nail filing cashier! I've been hooked.

Looks a grin, that. Had to click as I've recently finished reading this, which is brilliant - a total hoot: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Convenience-Store-Woman-Sayaka-Murata/dp/1846276845/ref=asc_df_1846276845/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=697251917220&hvpos=&hvnetw = g&hvrand=5209901463171920885&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvq mt =&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006891&h vt argid=pla-655276376877&psc=1&mcid=6dd11f6b9f91371d85df46ae77 4be576&th=1&psc=1&gad_source=1

More Zelda Ocarina 3D for me. Beat the Water and Fire Temples. Did Bottom of the Well, this time actually managing to pick up the

                              Lens of Truth.

Last time I did it I didn't know about this item and collected it by chance on the way out: thought you just had to memorise

                              the holes in the floors

                              - heh heh. Anyway, I forgot almost everything about those dungeons so they were wonderful. I'm also freshly appreciating how the world is so compact and packed with carefully curated detail and thoughtful design, yet suggests something much grander and more expansive - without having to literally lay it out for mile after empty mile as we expect nowadays.

There's a Facebook group I'm in, "Forever Arcade" that are going in September. I can't rally my mates here, so might just go solo to this one.
I've been trying to go for years now.

fuse, I love the eclectic mix of games you play, most of which I've never even heard of.

My son finished Miles Morales, apart from the NG+ stuff.
We got some friendly rivalry going in the Astro Bot races and he trounced my score on Mountain Run. I think he peaked at 39:38.
                                Anyone able to beat that?!

Back home and I played some more Stuntman: Ignition, trying to string all the scenes.
