So Apple have changed their policy and xCloud (and other streaming services) can work on iOS.

The download requirement is stupid but still it opens up a huge untapped market for Microsoft, Google etc...

Is there any point in buying a Series S if you have a lot of physical xbox 1 games?

No. The SeriesS has also been confirmed to not be receiving the bc enhancing that the SeriesX is getting as well.

Not really. It's been estimated by digital foundry that titles that were previously enhanced to 4K on the One X probably won't be able to be played with that enhancement in the Series S due to memory. But that doesn't mean it won't be able play games without any enhancements...

Until places like DF get to test out the theory of how it'll work I wouldn't take it as confirmation.

Don't get me wrong it's fair to say the Series X will be capable of better enhancements to BC if they choose to do that, but we don't know yet what they're doing with BC for the Series S.

I remember one of the engineers with the company I served my apprenticeship with would get a deep fried pizza supper for lunch, then put all the chips on the pizza and eat it like a sandwich. He was unsurprisingly a fat ****. He was however a surprisingly good guitarist for someone with such fat fingers.

The Xbox Series S won't apply Xbox One X enhancements to backwards compatible games, but it will offer its own range of improvements.

SeriesS won’t apply the enhancements at all that have been talked about for SeriesX.

"while applying improved texture filtering, higher and more consistent frame rates, faster load times and Auto HDR.”

That is basically a lot of the enhancements the Series X was getting. So it is enhancing the backward compatibility its just using the One S version as it's base.

So saying it won't apply them at all is not really correct.

To be fair even now the One X enhancements really just up the resolution and improve frame rates where there was dynamic scaling in place. From the sounds of it this is still going to make older games look and run considerably better.

I think we're going to need to see just what the Series S can do here even taking its starting point from the One S. I dare say it's not going to look bad at all.

MS has ruled out the Xbox One X B/C enhancements as well but it seems they've at least confirmed they will be working on Series S specific backwards compatibility enhancements so in the end it probably will make minimal difference given how well MS usually does this kind of stuff so def not something worth worrying about.

Hang on, you have to download the game you want to play? So not a streaming service then?

Yeah it sounds like another marvellous solution by Apple. I don't really get it as it defeats the purpose of its downloading the game in its entirety. I'm assuming you're picking a specific game but in fact downloading a client to just access it...?

Need to understand how they can make a streaming service work with this allowance in the rules but the short version is there is a way forward.

Keep your One for those games and get the Series S for new games? Think I'm going to adopt that philosophy so I can get my nephew a series S.

I’d always dismissed deep fried pizza as being a deep fried mars bar-style monstrosity, but it’s actually legit and one way pizza is served in Naples. First place I tried it, in fact.
