Also seems good for game pass announcements as well, as usually they are announced a few days/weeks beforehand.

Also just had another thought this means you can technically pre-load any new game and have it on your HD without needing to purchase it first.
Great idea. Plus will really help out when you buy a disk and get home, gaming right away instead of 10 hours of updates.

I hadn’t even thought about physical copies and how much more of a benefit that will be as well.

Pinch of salt and all that.
Not happening. Major Nelson has tweeted to say it's miscommunication on their part. The two titles featured on an advert for Series X optimization but the and also talked about GamePass.

Also works in a round about way with gamepass downloads. Download something off gamepass, when it runs out just put your mates disk in and it unlocks the game.

Figured it was too good to be true...

Apparently MS are not done with spending the big money and are still looking at further aquisitions. One rumour floating about is they could be buying Sega, with perhaps something to be revealed during Tokyo Game Show this week. Not sure how much merit there is to this, could be people trying to read too much into things and that a partnership deal is more likely.

You might think, after dropping $7.5bn on Bethesda and Zenimax, Microsoft would be done buying games companies for the …

After the supposed $50bn deal they were trying to buy TikTok has gone by the way side, they could be going on the mother of all spends. They have so much money its unreal. Another reason could be tactical to prevent rivals such other cash rich corporations such as Goolge and Apple from buying these companies.

Is Sega even worth it though? I mean it's either this rumour or Sony are buying Konami but to me neither seen really all that beneficial in the current market.

Maybe Konami makes more sense to bring the metal gear series to PS5 but without Hideo Kojima it seems pointless.

Sega aren't exactly pumping out new franchises but I guess anything that gives MS an inside track in Japan is useful. Dunno really...

It's possible such a move could allow Kojima to return to the franchise should it cause a restructuring at Konami, assuming he'd even want to.

I thought Sega was public, so any acquisition would have to be public knowledge too. We would know about it well in advance.

By buying Konami they'd be taking on a business that primarily deals in casino slot machines and Japanese gyms, so I don't see that.

Sega, yeah, maybe. They have a decent presence in Japanese console games and in Western PC titles. It would be a strong resource for MS to draw on for Game Pass content on both Xbox and PC. Not the strangest idea in the world to me.

And a hell of a lot of IPs, including:

                        PES
                        Silent Hill
                        Beatmania
                        Bomberman‎
                        Castlevania‎
                        Contra
                        Dance Dance Revolution
                        Zone of the Enders‎

A lot of media sites reporting they've received their near final Series X consoles... So expect some hands on information coming in fast.

That's the thing though. It's a load of IPs. Just IPs, in many cases, as most of those series are long dormant, and Konami are largely making their money elsewhere these days.

I think MS are after going concerns, publishers with development teams with currently successful games and stuff well underway in development, rather than a set of licenses that they'll then have to do something with themselves.

Disclaimer (for those the don’t selectively read portions of posts) I think the series S looks amazing and I might actually get one. I just hope I don’t accidentally buy a one S.

Those franchises are ripe for revival on PlayStation - companies have been purchased for far less.
