Presumptuous but given how the studio normally operates each December...

At 8pm JST the studio will be live streaming to celebrate the 15h Anniversary of the Yakuza franchise, look back at its history and to talk about... it's future. The stream will be two hours long and the studio is already known to be working on a new title.

The stream didn't really talk about much new game-wise, other than a PS5 'international' release of Y7 in March. There were other bits about a PSO2 collab, a concert, and a book, but largely the stream was about celebrating the game's history, which was gone over in quite a reasonable amount of detail.

Yup, presumably when it hits on 02 March it'll pretty much be the same as the XSX version. Unless something major happens I assume Yakuza 8 is still a fair while off given they didn't show anything at all.

As a final outing for the original cast, I want them to do Yakuza Minus One, set in the early 80s where uncle Kaz is a hot-blooded teenage delinquent in high school living at the Sunshine Orphanage. It could have all the nostalgic tropes of the era – biker gangs, daft haircuts, those bad lasses with the long skirts, a general obsession with American trends. None of this spending money like water either, you get your pocket money and you have to make it last, might beat the odd bit out of a few thugs or get a part-time job. Hostess clubs aren’t a thing, but you can attempt to romance the lasses by taking them to the grotty smoke-filled invaders house to show off your Monaco GP skills. Or ride around with them on your motorbike.

Yakuza 8 will take place several years after the events of Like a Dragon. Ichiban will once again be the lead character. Additionally, the studio still intends to continue with Judgment at some point.

The studio has confirmed that Yakuza: Kenzan will never be made. In addition to that, when they come to make a ninth, tenth or beyond that entry each will take at least four years to make now. Judgment might cross over at some point too if the story suits it.
