Reviews or parts of Reviews you strongly disagree with

Was thinking about this With Doom Eternal, some of my most trusted youtubers got most right when reviewing the game.....apart from Marauders, when i went back to the game recently I really had no problem with them at all and took them out very quickly, and yet almost every review i saw people seem to have a problem with them and I just wondered how much time was put into the game.

Godhand Ign review.....Possibly the biggest i have ever disagreed with i thought it was a great game and for me a good action game has the potential that if you get good enough its possible to beat the game without being hit

Any Dynasty Warriors review (Except 9).
I always feel like they miss the point of the games. They are not, and never will be, technical marvels or AAA. What they are is just insane fun. What other game can I get 100 people floating around in the air on the end of a pike?

Any review of classic arcade style games, like traditional shmups or the recent Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, generally gets it wrong. I'm no expert on those types of games myself, but someone reviewing them who doesn't have significant history with that genre is generally a fairly pointless exercise since they aren't the intended audience for those games and are unlikely to form an opinion useful to said audience.

Martin Robinson and Christian Donlan at EG do good reviews of that type of game, though.

Eurogamer's review of EDF 2025 was a particular low point for them.

IMO that gets talked about way too much. It was 1 review by someone who isn’t even on staff. They do tons of great gaming editorial and are leagues ahead of most sites.

EDIT: Kind of thought this was responding to me for some reason, when I realise it was actually a response to the thread question obviously it's a great example of a horrible review.

                Edge's ridiculous 6 / 10 for Gunstar Heroes.

I was going to say the same thing.

The problem is, that I don't visit that site very often because of that review.
She admitted she wrote the review "to make teenagers laugh".
If that's the journalistic integrity they're aiming for, then their site is not for me.

It was really disappointing that a game I like was getting a new release with the opportunity of attracting new fans, but that review probably put people off.

I understand reviews are going to be subjective, but that wasn't written as a review, just a comedy article.

It should also be noted I'm a terrible grudgemaster and refuse to go to a local hairdresser because they said they were closed a good 20 minutes before they were because they couldn't be arsed. This was over 20 years ago.

You're just cutting your nose off to spite your face with that one I reckon, QC

It was seriously one review mate, five years ago. I know it's of a game close to your heart, but still!

Not that there aren't lots of places to get games news and reviews, but, eh...I always feel like I'm the lone person who thinks Eurogamer is good on here for some reason. Martin Robinson, Christian Donlan and Edwin Thirlwell consistently turn out consistently decent reviews in my opinion. Anyway, I'm going well OT, with as much of an axe to grind as QC

Maybe I am, but genuinely I avoid the site, if possible.

And that, my friend, is their loss.

That's a shame, I reckon, because I think you'd probably really enjoy some of their knowledgeable, entertaining stuff by Robinson/Donlan/Thirlwell, but fair enough. We'll agree to disagree.

Them 11/10 Deadly Premonition reviews. What’s that all about? It’s just a low budget horror game isn’t it?
