Yeah that's true. Golf would have been nice but I guess there is already a golf game on switch.

48 new Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tracks is also big news because you know what it means right?
A certain major release will definitely be on Switch 2

          Yes

          That's right...

Wasn't expecting nintendo to release a Bowling battle royal game but hey it looks pretty fun so im all for it, Kirby looks like it might be the best one in the series so far really looking forward to it based on what Ive seen.

NIntendo online + will have mario kart DLC added to it as so as well as Animal crossing DLC its shaping up to be a pretty decent service, might be time to jump onboard with that as i quite fancy the animal crossing dlc too.

So let's see, now that I've had a moment to look through them.

Immediately I see a bunch of games I'll probably buy day-1.

Mario Strikers was a game I loved on the GameCube, and assuming it's similar (all signs point to yes) then I'll be getting this. Fantastic fun in multiplayer.

Front Mission 1&2 Remakes look good. Will have to see more of these because FM is a series which is somewhat uneven (though the core SRPG entries have always been good) but it's good to see that Squeenix aren't just ditching the series after LEFT ALIVE.

The Chrono Cross remake looks okay to me. I can see how others would dislike it, but I don't think this is quite the screwup that the Grandia port was. I think it's because the characters are 3D and the backdrops have a very rendered style; as opposed to a pixel-art style or a very stylised appearance like Saga Frontier 2.

Klonoa is absolute day-1 material. I loved the original on PS1 and never played the follow-up, so this is perfect.

I want to get Nintendo Sports for the multiplayer fun it'll provide.

Waiting for reviews on Triangle Strategy, though it's something which appeals.

Also Xenoblade Chronicles 3, I'm the opposite to @dataDave in this regard as I loved XC2 but never got along with XC1. Will have to wait and see more info on this one.

Overall though this was a fantastic direct for me. I've had ones in the past where I came away without intending to buy anything, whereas I came out of this one with 5 or so high-profile titles I'll likely get, provided they stick the landing.

Did, did Nintendo actually do a half decent show? 🤔

Screen grabs of the revealed MK8D tracks in Batch 01

None of them seem to use the anti-grav visual feature either that the retro tracks in the main game played with

Can't see how they could implement the antigrav, tbh. Actually they don't look too shabby in the cold light of day.

I showed the MK vid to the lad after breakfast and he was well excited, so...job done Nintendo.

I love how NI gets pretty much exactly what he wants finally from MK and can still turn it into a downer!

We've wanted this for years and we're finally getting it. This is a good thing.

Anyway, don't ruin Exhumed Day for me! It's a good day!

Why is Exhumed so special, DT? Serious question, I've never played it...and does it have anything to do with Iron Maiden's Powerslave?

You mentioned this before - thanks for letting me know!

I would've missed it as that branding is so different to the Saturn version I'm familiar with (I know it had different branding in other regions but I've never really looked at it).

No, except that it has an ancient Egyptian theme.

So it's a 3D first person shooter from back in the day, building on the likes of Duke Nukem 3D only with a very cool Egyptian theme but same 2D enemies and 3D space. What makes it different is just how good that 3D space is. The levels are superb and exploring them is a real treat and it works like a Metroidvania in that there are hub levels that you can come back to and explore further when you have different abilities and that leads to other levels. So it feels like a big world even though it is divided into levels. And then there is the platforming. 3D platforming back in the day in first person was pretty much always awful, or at least I can't think of any examples that aren't terrible and frustrating... except Exhumed. It works as a 3D platformer. And it's fantastic as one.

So it has a lot going on and it's a very rich game with loads to explore and it really builds beautifully all through the level design. It's honestly one of my favourite games.
