I picked up Lethal Company for £8.50. Runs great on the deck. I've not played it properly yet. Just waiting for some of my mates to pick it up. I watched this JackFrags video and it had me smiling and chuckling. It looks a right giggle.

You basically arrive on a moon. Get into its procedurally generated levels. Grab loot which you sell on to be able to access new moons and get more gear. I love the walkie-talkies plus you can have someone stay on the ship who has access to cameras which can provide help to the team. Very Aliens.

Looks like a laugh. Has anyone played that BattleBit Remastered?

It's basically a blocky voxel version of Battlefield... looks good but don't know if it's worth it.

My OLED 512gb Steam Deck arrived today at long last!

Mine got delivered today so been setting it up over the work day.

That screen is absolutely superb, even compared to the OLED switch. It just pops.

So after me time tinkering I am completely sold on the OLED model. It is noticeably lighter to hold and that battery life really does seem to be a good 30% more in most situations.

That screen though... I am thoroughly impressed by the screen. To such an extent that I did something I don't normally do with the Deck. Last night I set it up with Netflix and YouTube as an app in game mode and watched an entire movie on it in bed.

I can basically see me using this more simply because it's a better handheld for things besides gaming.

If anyone wants to know how to get web apps into game mode I'll share the steps I took here. I've also setup the controls so that I've got caption toggles, fast forward / rewind and other things mapped to specific buttons outside of the touch screen.

Its glorious. What a great device!

Are there emulators you can install directly off Steam? Or have they been taken down now?

I think Dolphin was the only one, therefore no as that was pulled.

Regarding the screen, the screen on the OLED is a proper 1000 nit panel, which is 3x the brightness of the Switch OLED.

Yeah I know but it's kind of a holy crap moment when you're viewing something using it. I'm now curious to watch some HDR content on it... I don't know what games I have that support it but I am sure I've got some video content to try out.

As for adding web apps this is the process I found on YouTube last night

                  1. Go to desktop mode
                  2. Open Edge (or another browser but I used Edge) and open e.g. YouTube.com and sign in
                  3. In the browser settings go to Applications and you should see an option to install the current webpage as an application, this has the effect of adding it into the applications list in Steam OS

4.Find YouTube App in Application Launcher menu of Steam Deck, push left trigger (equivalent right button of the mouse) and choose "Add to Steam" option

5.Find YouTube App again in Application Launcher menu of Steam Deck, push left trigger (equivalent right button of the mouse) and choose "Edit Application/Application/" then copy the entire text string in Arguments column, then go into your Steam app and find YouTube Application in the Library, press properties, then copy that string to the column Launch Options

                  6. Go back to Game mode.

                  7. Launch the App and it should load nicely.

                  Some extra tips:

                  - Use SteamGridDB for artwork (can install it through Decky Loader which I explained further up this thread somewhere in another post)
                  - Update the control configuration for the app, in YouTube for example I added F11 to a back button to go full screen, F button to go full screen in a chosen video plus added other functions to the front buttons.

For emulation just go and install EmuDeck. It is so comprehensive and straightforward at this point there isn't much use installing individual emulators direct from Steam (I think on RetroArch exists now anyway).

RetroArch is on Steam and has been for ages.

                      RetroArch is a frontend.

It includes all the backend emulators in it.

So apparently YouTube on Linux doesn't support HDR yet but from what I've read tonight Valve are working too get it supported next year...

                          Plus this is interesting:

Chiaki, the PS5 remote play app for Steam Deck has a beta build that supports HDR... I don't have a PS5 anymore but I'm curious to hear how good it is.

This is pretty impressive considering how badly the game performs without FSR3. Really hope this paves the way for official support because it really pushes the steam deck further.

There's no way I could be bothered going through the hassle of opening up a Deck again or setting up dual booting so I wondered, which do you think is the preferable device set up given you've had both?

Steam Deck with Upgraded SSD and Dual Boot
                                or
