New Cover Title memo for the page above: A man who’s paid to cover constant tech releases is upset a Handheld Console PC is fulfilling its purpose as a stable spec platform for developers and players.
In other news, I’m adoring my Steam Deck for the very reasons he cites as negatives.

I bit the bullet and bought a used 64GB Steam Deck this week.
I started looking around Christmas and spent many nights researching. I didn’t bother with an OLED as it would’ve cost almost double.
Turning it on and playing Halo MCC reminded me a lot of how I felt using a PSP for the first time. This may sound hyperbolic, but bear in mind this Is my first experience of even just seeing a Steam Deck in the flesh.
It’s wonderful.
It’s hefty, but it’s lighter than I expected.
It’s huge, but it’s so comfortable to hold. No tension or hand cramps at all, unlike with my Vita (which I bought a grip for) and my Retroid Pocket 3 (which I had to just live with for the Saturn/PS2 goodness).
Halo MCC (with only the Halo CE campaign) took up almost all of the available 45GB, so I installed a 1TB SSD this afternoon.
It’s so nice having an actual PC for this stuff. So much less faffing around compared with jailbroken consoles and even the Retroid.
Wonderful
