The only good thing coming from all this is the memes & the severe roasting of rockstar and grove street games online, it's more entertaining than the game could ever be.

The original games look rough in their unchanged form & yet they still look better over what trash was put out.
Western devs really seem to be the ones putting out the jankiest crap.
Developers are all tripping each other up. No single dev is the sole cause, but combined, players will be very skeptical to releases. A string of **** after **** after **** erodes faith. Eventually people will turn away from them.

But they're also not a mainstream consumer when it comes to GTA, which is a brand like FIFA - it appeals to a broader range of people, i.e. the larger group from the 2000-2010s who, if asked, would say "no, I don't like videogames, but I do have GTA and FIFA".
I'm not sure of what that more mainstream consumer would want in this scenario. Your CGI Jabba example might be apt.Last edited by Asura; 16-11-2021, 14:07.

Unless, they had never programmed a computer before and they were learning programming and this was their first exercise and they were being taught remotely during lockdown, and the teacher was also learning programming from a book he got at a car boot sale and that book was in a foreign language and was actually a book on nomadic cooking.

Look at red dead redemption 2. LOOK AT IT. That is Rockstar standard. Regardless of whether you actually like that game rockstar created an absolute masterpiece and kinda reset the bar for what AAA means. Then look at this. It’s like some sort of accident has happened. I can barely believe it’s not all some awful mistake.

Remember how EA used to be a sign of mostly really high-quality games and then at some point something clicked and they figured out you could just churn out rubbish and it'd get bought up as long as they hyped it enough? Rockstar have been looking towards that path for a while and I think they've now firmly established that they're walking down it. This is clearly just a quick Christmas cash grab. I note that it has been emphasized quite heavily that it isn't from one of their main development teams but a subcontractor, which I feel is on purpose so people won't doubt the quality of the games coming from the "proper" teams. I think this is something Rockstar have pushed so they could get this product out whilst somewhat covering their backsides. End of the day, they signed it off so the buck stops with them.
As much as there's going to be a huge fuss about GTA6, I'm expecting to be a really hollow let down once they actually pull their finger out and make it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even online-only with no single player campaign, they're making money hand over fist with GTA Online. And I bet it will have microtransactions like you wouldn't believe. I think the time of truly good GTA games is over.
