    Epic clones Among Us in Fortnite game mode

    Thought this might interest people here:

    Epic have, essentially, done it again - and remade Among Us in Fortnite.

    And yes, yes, Among Us is a videogame implementation of a pre-existing family of party games... But it was a good implementation, with clever decisions made to get the best out of its format, and the Epic/Fortnite version seems to just clone those ideas wholesale.

    This is Tiny Tower and Dream Heights all over again.

      Epic will keep doing it till the Fortnite brand itself loses popularity, as blatant as it is it's not massively different than every game racing to add battle royale modes into them in the wake of PUBG even when it's a poor fit. It's a decent opportunity for them too, COD will probably have it as a mode of F2P game next year

        As a game that started off life as a 3rd person tower defense type game, and then jumped on the battle royal bandwagon by copying wholesale how pubg and its ilk worked you have to think yeah makes sense. A lot of these free to play games seem to try and jump on the latest craze,

        Take Genshin it has added had its own animal crossing sim style house building mode and modes that copied prop hunt and fall guys. they have integrated the later mentioned two into multiplayer festival style Limited time events that you can participate in to gain in game rewards and currency. They always seem well received and are normally removed at the end of the time period so don't overstay their welcome.

          Thought this was an interesting, off-the-cuff response (from current Innersloth community director);

          For a game that will take seemingly any opportunity it can to collaborate with a bigger brand, it's a pretty ugly move. Between this and how Epic has positioned itself as the David to Apple's Goliath, I really have very little time for them.

            Yeah this is how I feel as well. You can't go up against Apple and fight for the man against monopoly tactics and then at the same time lock stock copy from a smaller indie developer, not even changing the terminology...

            What exactly do you stand for?
