    Megaton? New Game Product? Fake?

Im surprised this hasnt been put up here considering all the fake PSP images etc etc. Its an obvious fake but the guy has talent and Nintendo should hire him!

I have every confidence in Nintendo that they wont let the Sony kill off their real money maker the mighty gameboy with the hugely impressive looking / sounding PSP. Hyped up and not out until the end of this year!

I came across this from Jeux France and Lyris's excellent site. See image below. Apart from the massively over the top confidential splashed over it looks brilliant. Along with many other things that Lyris mentioned on his site.

Ill do a quote here for those that may have missed it. Kudos to Lyris for this one i just wanted more people to appreciate it.

Nintendo are currently dropping hints about their next hardware device that is soon to be announced. Apparently it's going to be the third addition to the company's line of products, and will stand beside their current home console, the GameCube, and their ever popular portable Game Boy Advance.

If Nintendo are to be believed, the new hardware is going to be a complete revolution and as such, will not be intended as a direct successor to the GameCube. Many insiders expect the new machine to be some sort of device involving motion sensing, similar to Sony's EyeToy. Others have guessed at some sort of holographic device placed over the users' eye (like a monocle, perhaps?).

That's why this image that appeared on Jeux-France is one I find a little too hard to believe. With the GameCube's successor already being talked about, it seems strange that Nintendo's new device would be a portable GameCube and GBA in one. It also certainly wouldn't be anything "completely new" as was hinted, even the most exaggerated pre-release hype surely couldn't describe a portable combination device in such a manner that we'd come to expect a complete revolution.

The image also has its flaws. It seems unlikely that a CD mechanism would be able to fit in a small exterior such as the one shown here, and furthermore if Nintendo were making the unit capable of playing GameCube discs, it seems odd they'd change the button layout to the more traditional diamond-pattern instead of the one used on the current GameCube controllers, as this could make some games clumsy to play.

Nintendo also offer GBA to GC connectivity as one of their biggest selling points. It seems that this device would lose this option, as there probably would be no way to utilize the Game Boy port while the GameCube mode was functioning - it would be a very bad idea to ask users to buy a new combination unit and also a seperate Game Boy Advance, to make use of one of the company's largest selling points.

But hey, they did it with the Game Boy Player, but this was a system extension instead of a combination. More on this news as it develops.

We've been talking about this today, it does seem rather unlikely, however, it would certainly make sense with the PSP on the way.

Our moneys on Nintendo ripping off the Eye Toy and bundling Stage Debut with it.

I totally agree, it's an excellent picture - I'm not 100% sure if I'm misinterpreting this, but I didn't make that picture - I just reported on it.

Oh and Ginza, thanks for being the first to send me site fan mail

        Nintendo ripping off Eye Toy???

Urm i think you have been fooled by Sony, the Eye Toy is just a webcam that connects to you PS2 so how was that Sonys idea?

The Eye Toy Software (Play, Groove) will NOT apear on Gamecube since it was developed by Sony London (i think) if a camera device did turn out to be Nintendos new console (doubtful anyway) then it would not be ripping and idea from Sony. Nobody knows anything about Stage Debut anyway but i would think its more along the Para Para lines then the Eye Toy: Play lines anyway. Stealing ideas is what i expect to see from Sony but Nintendo have more than enought creative minds to come up with something new and exciteing.

Nintendo has said many times that it will be a console that will stand along side the GBA and Gamecube if it was to be a camera then surely they would just have it connect to Gamecube.

My money is on something 100% new and never before seen.

Even though the Virtual Boy was a major flop i still think it could be something along the VR lines.

That's a very fair point I never considered before, a console with a modem isn't ripping off Dreamcast.

            "Sigh"

I simply implied that Nintendo may possibly make it's own stand alone product that would work in a similar way to the Eyetoy. Of course I know it's just a webcam and that Play and Groove are exclusive to Sony, I was referring to the fact that they would take this idea and give a unique Nintendo slant to it.

I'm also pretty sure that Nintendo has only ever referred to it as new hardware that will stand piller to piller with the current consoles.

I like the idea of something along the lines of VR though

It's also worth mentioning Kirby Tilt and Tumble, it had a lot of coverage initially and now nothing. Maybe the new hardware will feature this as well.

I'm sorry I didn't make my initial post more clear.

It's THE UGLIEST, LEAST PRACTICAL HANDHELD EVER.

              It's also several months old.

I just wanted to say sorry for getting on my high horse about the Eye Toy it seams like every time i see those words i just go off one one, what may make you laugh is i even own the thing

I have been having an agruement on another board about the Eye Toy as i have a deep hatrid for it, but hey im not going to get into that now.

                BACK TO NINTENDO

To me if Sony gets it right then they will equal the sales of the GBA and maybe even overtake it. Nintendo invented handheld gaming as far as i know (i maybe wrong) so they could battle Sony two ways.

                1) Blitz the GBA with Mario, Zelda AND Pokemon games at the time of the PSP launch to make it look like Sony cant compete with the games on the GBA however to me thats only a short term solution.

                2) A new console, while its ok to say yeah heres the next GBA and its got better specs than Sony ect ect i doubt it would work like it has in the past as Sony is an established name now and are the market leader, games could be matched on both systems and it could be quite equal.

However if Nintendo releases a product thats new to the market for arguements sake say its something along the VR lines then not only will Nintendo be able to try and match Sony with the GBA-PSP and the Gamecube-PS2 but they will have something else say this VR system that will add something different to the fold.

I am not making my point very clear since im knackered so i may add to what i am trying to say tomorrow.

I love nintendo but i also know that when the PSP is released i will be getting one on launch. Simple.

If Nintendo were to release something similar or better than the PSP at the same time then i would eat my hat, my shirt, my socks and my shoes.

                      Yeah, Why not?

After all Sony ripped off Sega's Dream Eye and all of the functions it offered online are now miraculous discoveries that Sony will soon be lauded with implementing.
