Seven Days until the release, the pressure is on! I'd say that it's currently around 95% complete, todays work was some of the lengthier work on it.

      So, today's update:

      What is Brink Cascade?
Several years ago there was a thread posted, an idea floated about utilising the pool of talent the site holds to make a game given the connections and knowledge to the gaming industry the userbase holds. It was mused about but never came about because as is all too clear, it's a big commitment and complex task. The idea always stuck with me though, even if there's no easy way to realise it.

After some time I wondered if there was a way of making something simple with no game design knowledge at all, essentially lowering the bar so much that it became more feasible. There was one way, an old school approach, but it would still be a time sink. A few months ago something unrelated came to mind and linked me back around to the idea. Some checking, some mapping out and the timing worked out and the plan was in place. As basic as the concept is I didn't want it to be so vanilla an approach that it would be too straight forward and so we arrive to the game type that the Bordersdown game is arriving in. Brink Cascade is a:

      Community Driven Text Adventure

There are no puzzles, just simple narrative choices that guide you through your personal adventure. The game features twenty nine unique endings however only one of these is the true ending and will reveal the real purpose of the game and why it exists. With no clear direction through the game from its opening moments each player is asked to complete their playthrough and then post a general summary of the journey they experienced. Armed with this information, other players will develop a sense of where their decisions will take them and what choices they should be making in their effort to be the one to discover the true ending to Brink Cascade.

Working against you though is a time limit, the users of the website will only have several days to defeat the game before the challenge is failed.

I thought I'd have it finished tomorrow but doing the math it turns out it's not going to be done that fast. I managed to finish another branch and two more endings. Still a couple more to go so it looks like a weekend test before Monday's release date comes around

I'm aiming for a certification rating of BF for Bad Fanfiction but it could very well turn out to be UC for Utter ****

In true videogame development style I demand you not see your family and sleep under your desk until the game is done.

At the risk of ruining the mystery, I have to ask:

Is this actually happening, or is this like someone on eBay selling an Xbox box?

I can 100% confirm that it's real and barring a publishing issue is properly happening.

I can't 100% confirm that it'll be any good though

Don't be too upset if not everybody likes it.

There's this one guy on here who thinks everything is meh...

This is a very elaborate way of them beginning their redemption arc

Final development update - It's done!

It was a push but I managed to complete the final sections, crammed in as much as I could and I tried the Preview and it seemed to work fine. The only remaining hurdle ahead of Monday's release date is ensuring I can successfully publish the game.

I'll give it one last test on Monday and then provide a new post as well as update the OP with how to access the game. Then the time limit will begin...

                              LOL "Time limit".

I'm playing this like GTA, RDR2, Bioshock, Fallout and Oblivion, spending months exploring the game world and completing sidequests before I even touch the main quest!

I’m looking forward to you complaining about the optional backpack-collecting side quests!
