One thing it will do is give that new Series S 1TB more wiggle room in terms of cost difference, but still... wrong move for me.
The game pass increase was always expected. They haven't touched pricing over several years and the value proposition is about to increase dramatically Starfield coming (and staying) on the service.

Indeed. These things should be coming down in price at this stage, not going up. You’d think they’d want more onboarding in order to shovel out boatloads more software, especially in Nintendo’s case (and more GP subs respectively). They could easily fast-track their way to 165M and becoming the best selling console of all time while selling 300M more games. I don’t reckon we’ll see a Switch successor until 2026. The other two much later than that.

Right now the only current console seeing decent sales is probably the Series S. I see them regularly 2nd hand for £150-180 and even at direct retail you find some going way below the RRP.
I would imagine the new core black 1TB model coming in at £299 will see the current white one discontinued pretty soon and falling even more (£120?)...
The Switch just seems to keep going thanks to limited editions and pack-in titles that still have elevated pricing (Mario Odysseys etc...)
I think I got really lucky snatching a 2nd hand pristine OLED model for £210 from a cash convertors on eBay... otherwise 2nd hand they seem to still hover around £250+

Either that or they're all being greedy sods.
Everything has gone up manufacturing wise across the planet, whatever you make, wherever you are, costs are constantly rising.

As the tech gets older component cost come down, this doesn't seem to be the case at the moment, where in some weird bubble where manufacturing is so backed up that the costs are now super high to cope with demand.
I can't believe that the switch isn't massively lucrative for Nintendo though their selling a 7 year old tablet now and haven't cut the rrp once.
