    Star Wars: Eclipse

Quantic Dream have revealed their new game and it's a Star Wars title set in the High Republic era. Like their previous games this will be a narratve branching path adventure game.

    Star Wars slips lower.

QD's games will always perplex me. Not good games, not good movies. My favourite game of theirs is still Omikron.

Honestly, I don't understand the point of the High Republic era. It just feels like the exact same story and there's zero sense of passage of time, everything looks exactly the same

I thought Detroit: Become Human was quite fabulous and played through Heavy Rain three times, but wasn't so keen on Beyond Two Souls.

That trailer doesn't really tell me anything about the game tho, so it's impossible to make any judgement on what their Star Wars game will be like at this stage. If it's similar to their previously releases tho, I'll be taking a look.

well anything QD is no, no for me, i'd rather just watch some twitch or youtube play through and get the same enjoyment out of it and save £70. I'm assuming this high republic is the prequel era?

High Republic is prior to Episode 1. HR covers about 1000 years in the canon (Episode 1 is at the very tail end of the High Republic)

Seems there's a lot of "absolutely not" for this because of QD, but i really enjoyed going through Detroit with my partner, she’d make a lot of decisions i wouldn't and it was good to discuss things as we went, so will see what's this like on release, hopefully it turns out ok.

Yeah I always enjoy QD games, despite their objectively terrible screenwriting and basically low quality gameplay

                I'll probably play this.

I would totally understand if they were good movies, but I just found Heavy Rain laughable. The bit at the start with the kid, and the balloon... It was meant to be sad but I was there laughing at the creepy robot puppet man chasing after his creepy robot puppet son.

I liked Heavy Rain at the time, platinuming it killed it completely though as there's actually very little deviation in it. Beyond I didn't mind but it wasn't as good overall. Detroit was the weakest one for me. Really, though the end third fell apart, Fahrenheit was still their best hour

                        Press X to Jason. JAAAAASSOOOOOOONNNN.

The first time I played Heavy Rain through, it was with a few mates I lived with. One had purchased it so insisted on taking the reins at key moments. However he was extremely stoned which led to him basically missing every single QTE in the game. As I recall the ending we got was one where the protagonist ends up dying in a meat grinder

Yeah my thinking with choice-based games is that the fun is in making the decisions in the first place. The instant I go back for a second run at one and I'm taking option B simply because I took option A last time, rather than actually making the decision, the fun is sucked right out of it. It also tends to reveal just how similarly the two options play out anyway, as you point out.

David Cage is to Hideo Kojima as Chris Martin is to Thom Yorke.

I quite liked Fahrenheit. Heavy rain I ruined for myself by playing using PlayStation Move controllers, that didn’t work. By the time i gave in and used the dual shock I didn’t know any of the buttons so couldn’t play it. Not played anything after that.
