Your Gaming Spend - 2022 Edition

Another year complete with many a pound and penny spent acquiring hardware and software. Another year lies ahead as well, one thankfully lighter on hardware new releases unless you're in the queue for a Steam Deck.

How much do you think you'll be spending on gaming in the coming year?
Tally your monthly success and failures at managing your hobby thirst in this years thread

    #2
    I'm in.

Gunning for less than £500 in 2022 - should be doable as no hardware on the horizon.

Going to *attempt* to limit myself to a max of two games a month too.

    I reckon it's feasible.

I did extremely well in 2021 and I think it'll be the same for 2022 unless I splurge on a new PC, which can probably wait another year or two. Lot's of non-gaming stuff I want to put the money towards instead but we'll see.

If I go through with my Steam Deck preorder that will account for the majority of my spend.

Having now got all the consoles and game pass pre-paid there's really only 1-2 titles announced outside of that and the reality is I'll probably pay for them via MS rewards
... so expenditure on actual games, possibly £0 - £100?

Yep, assuming the Deck remains worthwhile I have no chance of hitting a record low spend next year. There's a ton of room to come in lower than this year has been for me though so I'm going to be gunning hard for that

I think I have very little enthusiasm left for spending on old video games so hopefully a lot lower this year. Have ordered Pokémon Legends Arceus and want Bayonetta 3 but that's about it that comes to mind currently.

I'll probably end up spending several thousand, last year was pricey as well but it's just how things are it's not like i have a social life or get to go on any holidays abroad as i have to look after my remaining parent so my hobbies get to have the cash instead as they are my only outlet for not going totally insane. This year i'll be making more headway on picking up some of the harder japanese PS1 games i have been after, stuff like harmful park were some of the most i have ever paid for the PS1 but ironically it's also piss easy to find a copy because of it's reputation a fact that a lot of the supposed "rare" stuff is so easy to find online. There are games i'm still after that are obscure as hell & ignored by the gaming population and because of that they are a total bitch to find in decent condition assuming you can even find a copy at all. Even in japan they are not easy to find unless you both live there and devote plenty of time to in person game hunting in stores, i however have my ways to overcome most hurdles.

I'm 100% dialing back this year. I've bought so many titles that just sit there waiting to be played.
Ill buy the big hitters and sit on my hands for the rest.

I’m going to try and track this for the coming year and then cringe at what I’ve spent versus how many of the games I’ve put solid time into!
I’d imagine Game Pass will skew these numbers somewhat though.

This is a tough one. I tend just to buy stuff on a whim. Last year I probably spent about a grand on games.

Well I had a little impulse spend on new year's eve whilst down the inlaws... I took my Series S with me as a roadie setup which was decent but the play room they have is in the garage away from the wifi (barely gets a signal).

So I remembered I'd gotten an email from UpSpec gaming about their clip on screen for the Series S and I noticed not only were they now offering free shipping but also a $20usd discount.

So I ordered one, delivery is in February as well so not long to wait. My order number is in the 1500-1600 bracket so I guess they haven't sold many but the product looks decent.

Bought my first item which was the 7 Sins Expansion for Hitman 3 but thankfully it was via pre-existing credit in the account. Still riding that £0 spend high which the fact I'm celebrating that just 4 days into the year is a depressing reflection of what I'm typically like with money
