I hope this means the series will return to the isometric viewpoint and steal the smileys from classic ISS Pro.

You could run away from the ref trying to give you a red card!

Oh, so this happened? I thought EA/FIFA would come to an arrangement before release.

It was literally announced a whole year ago that EA and FIFA were ending their partnership. See OP.

I miss the unlicensed football games, who wouldn't want an England team featuring David Backhim, Ryan Greggs, Michael Ownthem, and Barry Linker

Given that all the news stories have been about fans clutching their handbags at female players being in the mix in UT, I'm going to assume that the loss of the FIFA license proved EA right - no-one cared

FC24 will fail as soon as bad boy Lego 2K Goal! lands

Yes, I was fully aware of that.

I just meant that I thought they'd have a spat, fall out, then make up before some sort of deadline because it doesn't make business sense for this to happen.

It makes all the business sense for this to happen when FIFA are being excessively greedy with what they're asking EA to pay for licence renewal and when the massive success of Ultimate Team means that EA can afford to tell FIFA to F-OFF.

Yeah, I know it's FIFA's greed. I just thought it was brinksmanship; like FIFA would see if EA would do it, EA called the bluff. I just expected FIFA to go back to them before it got this far, sheepishly, with a counter-offer.

Given the sh1thouse who runs FIFA nowadays (he makes Sepp Blatter look progressive in comparison), that ain't happening.

Good on EA and I say that as somebody who checked out of playing modern football videogames a while ago. If FIFA think they can have another major dev do something as successful as what EA have done for them over the last three decades while charging an exorbitant price for the licensing, let them try.
