    PS4 Game Bargains

Recently, after saving up my pennies, I bought a used PS4 Slim (v2) - still not cheap but below my £200 limit for any console. Completely missed out on the PS3 exclusives as I never bought one. XB360 only for that generation.

Haven't had the PS4 fully running yet because of the audio support issues - no optical audio out and only HDMI which my gaming monitor only supports through DVI so no audio that way either. Trying two solutions but, again, budgetary considerations meant I haven't been able to buy the necessary equipment until this month and I'm still a few cables short.

Anyway this is not about that, really what I'm interested in is bargain must play PS4 games. Already have these, bought over the last six months in preparation for the PS4 purchase when I found them really cheap new or used (mostly used and typically £10 - £15):-

Last Of Us Remake (I'll get the sequel if I enjoy that)
    Uncharted series (all)
Ace Combat Skies Unknown (should actually be top of the list)
    Wolfenstein The New Colossus
    Metro Exodus
Dishonored II (another must play for me, loved the first game)
Horizon Zero Dawn (I'll get Forbidden West if I enjoy that)
    Darksiders III
    Outer Worlds
    Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Rise Of /Shadow Of The Tomb Raider
    Rime

    On my to get list:-

    The Last Guardian
    Sekiro SDT
    Ghost Of Tushima
    God Of War III
    The Witcher 3
    COD WWII

Anything else people here might add. I'm really not keen on SoulsBourne type games, at least I've not played any of that type (DMC, Bayonetta) which haven't quickly made me want to be playing something else less repetitious in preference.

Otherwise I'm open to other suggestions/recommendations.

I only played AC2 (GOTYE) on the XB360 for the first time 18 months ago and rather enjoyed it even though the extra content felt like some half finished, left over ideas from the PoP series they just reskinned. But I've today seen PS4 Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection for little more than tenner new and I'm seriously considering it.

Worth it for Brotherhood and Revelations?

Seems like you enjoy action RPGs/third person action adventure. With that in mind, have you played the Yakuza games?

I'm a big fan of the series. Every game in the series is available on PS4 (all 7 of them, so far). If you're interested, the best one to start with is Yakuza Kiwami. It's a remake of the first game on the PS2. You can probably get hold of it for about ten to fifteen quid.

I'll second the Yakuza series, try either Zero or 7/Like a Dragon first

Prey, since you like Dishonored/Deus Ex

Genshin Impact - F2P Gacha but it plays well, very easy to get get lots free money to roll characters, large expansive world full of adventuring (BotW style), puzzles, world quests which change the map and pretty decent story.

Death Stranding - pretty unique, worth a play

      Final Fantasy 7r

      Dragon Quest XI

      Outside your wheel house:
Fire Pro Wrestling World - best wrestling game, 2D
Apex Legends - the best battle royal
Dead by Daylight - MP 4v1 survival horror

Interesting ideas (both) - I hadn't considered Prey.

Death Standing - I know a bit about and always sounded to me like a curates egg of a game: good but bad in parts. I have seen it cheap but not the recommended directors cut version. But might give it a try eventually.

If you missed it on PS3, Journey is often one people talk about. I still think about it years after last playing it. Naturally, I've not completed it.
I might get some hate for this, but Rocket League is a lot of fun, although I think (?) you need PS+ to play online.

Journey, thanks for reminding me. I'd forgotten about that but it has been on my games to get list, literally, for years.

You should try Judgement before the Yakuza games IMO. It's a far more enjoyable experience plus you don't need the background of the other games. It's basically a Yakuza game under a different name.
I have a lot of PS4 games that I would recommend but I'm not sure of UK prices. If it is within budget, the Ghost of Tsushima is an absolute must!

Unfortunately new or used both Sekiro SDT and Ghost Of Tushima seem to be at the high end of my price range for PS4 games in the UK. I balk at anything over £20, always have, because, in general I've found if you give it enough time, the price will eventually drop below that level for a physical copy any generation. That's before the game becomes rare and the price rises again as a consequence.

I've seen PS2 and GC games selling recently at CEX in the £30 - £40 price range which you could buy from them ten to twelve years ago for £5 - £10.

Sekiro SDT is typically £35 - £40 used (Ebay/Amazon/CEX) and £45+ new. The GOTYE version is around £60 and that's if you can even find it in the UK.

Ghost Of Tushima is typically £32 - £38 new and, bizarrely not much different used; cheapest I've seen is CEX £27.90 (inc. P&P) but some sellers asking almost £50 for a used standard edition. Still at £32 new it is beginning to look tempting.

I just bought Tsushima here on the forum for £12 shipped, and auction (not buy it now) copies seem to go for that ball park on eBay. Maybe just stick a wanted post up?

Just ordered that PS4 Assassins Creed: The Ezio Collection for £10.47 new. Couldn't let that go at the price and who knows what it would be next month when the cost of everything is going to balloon.

I needed to make up the order to £20+ anyway as otherwise I'd have been paying almost £5 postage/packing for the item I really needed urgently.

If I'm honest, I really think you should stop there.
You've got a metric tonne of good games to work through there and you're falling into the trap a lot of us do where buying cheap games and playing them are two, very separate hobbies!

I would say create a wishlist on the PS store (if you're happy with digital) and get a few games when they drop in price.

Everyone is going to list a zillion games, but I'd take it easy. I still have games on the shelf from when I got my PS4 five years ago.

Alienation is a great exclusive that goes on sale frequently for £3.99.

Like every serious gamer I have a backlog of games dating back, in my case to the original Playstation. But whilst I've still enough FPS to last me for a long time (although I'd like a WW2 one) but I'm practically out of unplayed action/adventure, stealth, platformers, squad based shooters and air combat type games on any console.

I like variety in my gaming and that's why I've concentrated mostly on the PS4 games in those genres I'm short on or I've run out.

I'd suggest Hollow Knight, currently 12 squids I believe.

When Nier Automata is on sale again that is also a pretty unique experience.

Finally have my 'new' used PS4 up and running with a relatively cheap but seemingly pretty good TOSLink audio breakout solution to the problem I had because I don't have an HDMI capable TV.

On the game front I think I might add the Bioshock Collection to the list. I've played all three on the XB360 but this contains all the DLC too which I've always wanted to play. I checked the XB360 Season Pass for BS-Infinite and the earlier games' and the total cost is practically the same as buying the full PS4 Bioshock Collection new.
