Games Shops that are Great :)

Seeing as the tread about bad shops is being closed how about we list some of the better shops we have been to

    Pink Planet in Trowbridge, Wilts.

Its now a bizarre hybrid of electronics, air guns, the biggest collection of second hand VHS titles ever, and a few games tucked away too.

People must bring in Mega Drive games on a weekly basis and get pennies for them, the shop stickers them all at ?3.99 regardless, it goes without saying I've had some truely joyous moments finding some gems (Toejam and Earl being the most recent, last week) and leaving the store knowing it would of cost me 3 or 4 times as much on Ebay.

On a similar note, Gamestation in Bath. Used to have an excellent retro section where I picked up some 32X bargains (Doom for ?1), sadly as the chain has become more "GAME-y" they have scaled back the retro section to the point of it being completely worthless.

5th Dimension in Swansea and Neath can be great.

The guys who work there don`t really know their ****, so you can get some real bargins there from time to time.

      MD Alien Soldier ?4 * 2.
      GC Broadband Adapter ?9.99
      MD SOR3 ?2
      PSx Point Blank 2 ?7

Unfortunately they have become a bit more wise of late, but bargins can still be picked up from time to time.

I live in Australia so my local GAMES WIZARDS is a good shop.

The only good thing about EB is that you can return a game up to a week after purchase I'll only buy from EB if i'm uncertain about the quality of a game before I purchase it.

Plus if your in Akihabara you cant go past ASO BIT CITY, damm that place is awsome!

Gamestation Newcastle is the best store we have here.

Its got a massive selection including a large Dreamcast and N64 section.

Prices are also the cheapest you will find.

Aso-bit city is indeed ace. I've lost a good few hours in there.

Game Focus in London is one of the best places I've been to in recent months.

Game Focus, Goodge Street, London is possibly the best game shop I have ever shopped in. The brers are both safe none of this totally OTT prices you see in other places, they'll pay you decent amounts for your stuff, they know their games, nice place too - CEX is a distant far away memory/bad dream!

There's a new shop opened in Nottingham called Play Time (in the Broad Marsh centre near the bus station entrance, Notts folks). I've only been in once (two days ago) but the guy who served me knew his stuff and was very friendly and enthusiastic. He even agreed not to show my trade ins on my receipt to avoid the risk of getting disqualified from the Zelda offer by NOE.

They seemed to have a pretty extensive second hand range but I was in a hurry so didn't browse. My mate did pick up Looney Tunes Space Race for his kids' DC for ?6 though, dunno if that's a bargain or not but he was very happy with it.

Gamestation Stockton's DC selection knocks Middlesbrough's into a cocked hat I'm afraid!

If your ever in West Los Angeles. Hyper Game Action is good for Japanese imports, they can be pricy but they have used games too, also you can find some real cheap Japanese games at Mitsuwue Market.

I hate EB those people are tossers so I buy most of my domestic stuff online.

Bits n peices in Macclesfield is a good little shop. Not the biggest stock, and not much on the import front, but they have some good retro stuff including some absolutly mint copies of snes games. The guy in there even let me play on his gp32 to see what it was like, the shop wasn't buisy so he showed me how it works for about 20 mins, which I thaught was very nice.

Also some good cheep 2nd hand Xbox games and hifi stuff.
