Good old MS bull numbers at their best. Before you can count a newly acquired assets as growth, you have to recoup the money you spent on said asset, which they absolutely have not.

So a decline in revenue then MS.

I'm sure they expected the decline, they said as much months ago.

The main issue they have right now is there's been several months without any major release from first parties and little positive additions to game pass besides Diablo IV from the ActiBlizz acquisition.

Then you add on then testing the waters with smaller exclusives going multiplatform and it's not surprising.

Hellblade 2 is out imminently though, and the June showcase is just around the corner where you'd expect the back catalogue flood gates to open for game pass where Activision are concermed...

That still doesn't solve the general brand perception in many territories. MS really needs to get back to really advertising it's big games properly and what the ecosystem offers.

Shame they couldn't get a new Fallout game out in time for the TV series. That would have solved a lot I reckon. The recent update has been overhyped sadly. Appreciate the frame rate boost on PS tho.

Again this is more an issue with Bethesda. You'd assume they're full steam ahead on Elder Scrolls now whilst a smaller team works on Starfield.

If there was a Fallout game in any form of production when MS took over I'm sure they'd have prioritised it, but it's a safe bet there wasn't and MS strategically left Bethesda to get Starfield done.

If anything the shows may stimulate then to bring it forward to tie-in with future seasons though I'd say they'd be pretty happy with the overall success of the current titles anyway.

The next release is supposed to be the Fallout 3 remake but if I remember correctly that is still around 3-4 years out

I don't see why/how that takes 3 years? I would love to see Fallout 3 / New Vegas get a new coat of paint and maybe even running in the newer Starfield engine (better gunplay / lighting)... but still I don't see that as a 3 year project if it's underway now?

You'd assume Fallout 4 is now done with for good (once they've fixed the bugs from the patch that fixed the bugs).

I would like Bethesda to cash in on the TV show with a 90's style 2 player shooting game. Maybe Midway could pick it up. Base it on the T2 arcade board. One player is Lucy and the other is Max.

                Hudson (Bethesda's new ideas guy)

Probably not hugely resourced and may depend on how extensive it is. It's outsourced too which might be a barrier resource wise

Obsidian are literally sitting right there. I'm still hoping the internal shifts in MS lead to less pandering to Bethesda and in turn Activision. MS could have had a spin-off ready but because Bethesda still can't get over New Vegas (but is happy to mine it for the show) they missed yet another shot at a win

LOL! A bit too late to want a new Fallout game now, isn't it? I bet some of their execs have watched the show, then been reminded by their adult kids that they own that IP now, and have decided that now is a good time to release a new game and Betehsdur can just ship one out within three months.

There absolutely should have been some kind of tie-in with the show. Kind of like how Nintendo followed the SMB movie with a new banger of a game. That move made them quite a lot of money.

Also, are they really doing a Fallout 3 remake, and it's being outsourced? Ugghh... That's going to be mega embarrassing when it looks and plays like **** compared to the original with mods. Why even bother when hardcore fans have already covered their own needs? Unless it's going to be Resident Evil 4 levels of polish and rework they probably shouldn't bother.

I'm not expecting much from one given how Bethesda doesn't usually throw much behind its next-gen ports, releases etc. It was mentioned during the Xbox Acti court discussions amidst the slew of leaked info that came out. If it's still in development and if it's still on the same planned timetable, the leak suggested that in the run of releases Indiana Jones would be the next thing out the gate and Fallout 3 Remaster would be around two years later. The leak was based on pre-COVID timings though and existing titles on there suggested at least a 2 year delay which would put it up to 4 years out still. They may be able to speed it up but if the info holds true the intention was to prioritise an Oblivion remaster first.

Apparently the Fallout 4 update has a broken Quality mode on Xbox consoles. They just can't catch a break at the minute

That would require some actual common sense though wouldn’t it Dave?

I mean instead of sorting a tie in out when the show was concepted (because a new game or tie in would sell regardless of the shows quality) they will shove some half arsed mess out in a few years when it’s not relevant.

Again I doubt Xbox/MS had any influence available to persuade Bethesda to switch from Starfield to a new Fallout game to line up with the release of the show... they only took control 3.5 years ago and they were clearly neck deep in developing Starfield with Elder Scrolls being the next title.

I guess its short sighted of Bethesda if anything else. With Obsidian available I don't see why they would outsource the Fallout 3/NV remakes but who knows what is going on inside Obsidian (apart from Outer Worlds 2).

The main thing to take away is the show is hugely successful so you would imagine at least another 2-3 seasons (but they could easily go more) in terms of content and that gives plenty of time to line-up future plans. If the show is going to delve into New Vegas then it would be cool to get that remake to align to that seasons showing for instance.

It made the game stop working on steam deck too (despite this update getting a new deck verified tick) the community had done a lot to get the game running well on deck via patches as it had all sorts of issues and didn't run well, you would think an official patch would be a lot better but simple things like using a keyboard with the game causes it to crash.

Like the Skyrim HD update it broke the SE loader everyone uses to manage mods (load order and conflicts), F4se is currently broken and there is no way i'm loading up vanilla F4.
